I'm wondering if there's another way to record my N3DS screen aside from NTR, since development has ceased for it and the performance isn't perfect. I'd also like to avoid dropping $300 on a 3DS capture card. Are there any other CFWs working on/that already have the ability to output video to your PC for capture/streaming?

NO. $ is a need.

It was absolutely incredible that a software solution was even developed at all and you should be more grateful.

Well, AFAIK there's no publicly announced CFW for which this is planned, but your best hope for now is this:

A new project will be started for migrating some of the features of NTR CFW (for example, video streaming) to a standalone 3dsx homebrew app, which does not requires downgrading or installing CFWs.

So I guess you could just keep using NTR CFW for now until cell9 eventually releases the standalone app (IF he does).

I don't believe it's my router, it's an Asus RT-AC68U sitting about three feet from me with the PC hooked up via cat6. When I say it isn't perfect, I don't mean it isn't usable. What I mean is, wouldn't you like to have, say, 60 FPS? Or better quality? (Even quality set to 90 has visible artifacts, and 100 gets below 30 FPS too often for me). If you have any tips to help, I'd appreciate it!

In regards to QuantumCat, I'm grateful that the app exists at all, but it's possible to be grateful for something and see room for improvement at the same time.

I only ask about an alternative or branch because there are plenty of things that could be better, even disregarding video quality issues, the interface for connecting and the viewer are pretty barebones. Hell, the disconnect command doesn't even work. If I knew how to program, I'd love to put work into something like this for my own use, and the community. I also don't want to hedge bets on cell9's next project, because he hasn't posted since the NTR thread shut down from what I can tell.

remoteplay(priorityMode = 0, priorityFactor = 5, quality = 90, qosValue = 101)

This gets me around 30, however it varies so much between 25 and 35 that it doesn't look great.

Quoted from the BootNTR VideoStreaming page:
qosValue (Default 20.0): Limit the bandwidth to work on different wireless environments, the actual bandwidth cost may much lower than this value. Set to 25, 30 or even higher on good wireless environments, set 15 if the WiFi quality is not good. Set qosValue higher than 100 to disable the QoS feature.

Try setting qos to 100, not 101

QOS @ 100 had no effect, if anything it's a few frames slower than 101. I just tried it at 40 as well for the hell of it, and it seems to be the same as 100. I wish the N3DS had 5Ghz capability!

I'm also wondering, is there a way to disconnect the server without restarting the console? I've tried disconnect, disconnect(), and disconnect('3ds ip', 8000) obviously with my 3ds' IP instead of the words. None of those are working, and while there's an "enable debug" option in NTR, there doesn't seem to be a disable button, and hitting enable a second time just gives an error saying it's already on.

tbh im was surprised it worked as good as it does given the specs of the 3DS for it to be able to play a game and stream the video output is pretty impressive and at 20-30 fps is pretty cool, NTR viewer was never supposed to be a total capture card replacement if you have a legitimate reason for needing 60fps output (i.e being a review site, marketing, video guides or "professional" lets player) then cough up and get a capture card, if your just doing lets play video's as a lil hobby i really don't think anyone will care if its a little bit choppy at times

sure things could have been improved but as the dev quit due to harassment and (apparently) deleted the source code i dont think we will get much in terms of bug fixes going forwards, and i don't think anyone else with that level of skill is currently working on any similar 3DS projects (at least publicly)

the L hdmi adapters work great on my tv and receiver. so much less stress on the ports using them than regular cables. in that instance anyway.
