he posted the sha1 for the key - not the key - so its just another useless in-your-face tweet saying i got something and you cant have it.
I dont know why this is important anyway - the boot1 has been posted unencrypted for a long time [years..]

Yes, lets just wait a few years until there's only a 99% chance Nintendo won't release anymore new updates, THEN the WiiU scene can finally start releasing things! I'm sure it will be a thriving scene 3 years from now. Makes perfect sense to just keep holding on until Nintendo has fully moved away from the console.
Well in a way I can understand his point. I'd say wait until NX is out (if we have to anyway), then we can see if it will have Wii U virtual console, and if that still has the same vulnerabilities by then, then you'll have both real and VC Wii U's hacked as a bonus.

More than unlikely of this to happen.
I mean we know the big N isn't the best with "stability™" but even they wouldn't implement PUBLIC vulnerabilities free to use for everyone.
And from their way of reacting to entrypoints by just pulling the games from the eShop they would probably not even implement vulnerabilities that are private but "known".

It depends, Nintendo themselves have to know of the vulnerability and how to patch it before they can implement a vulnerability free version of it. Look at vwii, it still has the smashstack vulnerability, if they couldn't fix that before rolling it out, imagine how hard it would be for them to patch an unknown vulnerability. Of course that is assuming the NX will have a Wii U VC, seeing as if Nintendo wants to remain relevant, they will have to change their current architecture (likely to x86).

I think you missed the sarcastic tone of that reply.
If people hold on to what they have for three years to be 99.99999% sure big N won't patch it, most everyone will have moved on and no one will care anymore.

Many people are tired of the lack of idea sharing the wii-U scene has bred and lost interest in this console already.

For sure the wii-U and certain wii-U hackers will be remembered for showing how terribly wrong things can go if a console gets under control of the "Darkside" of fame-hacking, instead of sharing knowledge so all can pitch in ideas.

I have a Wii U and a handful of games and that's about all there is to the console as far as I'm concerned. It's already a dead console except for a few more games NX out early next year. It had a certain amount of good games but it really has to go down as one of the most disappointing consoles of all time, a 4 year lifespan with not enough quantity. I don't even bother to pirate it.

Yeah i looked it up on google already well cannot wait to see what comes of this
You won't actually "see" anything that comes from this.
You will only be told what they figured out and possibly a few sha1 hashes that you cannot use for anything.

It used to be a place to announce new things to release for others to build cool things from. (cfw - emu - coldboots and others)
Now its just a conference for elitist coding hoarders to boast their ep33n at. (unfortunatly)

these threads should be moved to end of forums.

The only reason @derrek6 posted the tweet was to gain ep33n.
i'll bet he got his goal and gained many new twitter followers because of that useless sha1 tweet.

if he wanted to help for real - he would have posted the actual keys - not the useless sha1

I'm fine if someone don't want to share what they have (it's THEIR work after all and they're not obligated to share it with others), but why bother bragging about it just for a few minutes of internet fame if you have no intention of releasing at all? It's just childish and annoying.

You guys are like crack addicts waiting for your daily dose.
"give me IOSU, even though I don't even know what its real name is or what it actually does."
You know, when you are on the other side of things this type of stuff is always funny. You guys should fill the homebrew section with different brute force programs and attempt to brute force the key........lol

Reminds me of what the 3DS scene was for a long while there... I swear it's in a golden age now, but it took years, and the Wii U doesn't have years left.
