Question says it all, in cfw/patched enviroment do we even get control of the volume output level or is it just handled by the console's hardware?

I once saw a guy modding his 3ds removing the resistances on the 3ds mobo to get slightly louder sound output at the cost of a little sound flickering on the 3ds behalf.

3DS sound output is really weak, even with headphones. I understand it may have been to prevent any potential damage to kids, but would've been good to have the option as a parental control feature rather than being hardprogrammed into the system itself...

I know it is possible, but I'm not sure how. A few weeks/months ago I saw on reddit a post that had hardware options or something like that, like changing the LED color to stuff you normally wouldn't see. Raising the max volume was one of the things.

I don't really get why adjusting the volume on a 3ds of any kind using software has a use to anyone... you can't move your hand off of the damn console for two seconds to adjust the volume?

The problem is that you can't infinitely adjust the volume of the 3DS, and for some people the max volume is still not loud enough (using (crappy) headphones for example), so they are asking if it's possible to boost the sound level by software even more.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.

    That sounds really cool

I know the basics but no strategy at all
