So from today i guess ( havent rly used my network on my wii for the last 2 weeks) tubehax wont let me use the network at all, i can only ise tubehax to selfhost my files, but if i wanna stream netflix or use the browser, it wont let me, and if i go into settings, and make a connection test it wont connect to internet ( just as tubehax says it will do if it fails ) so, is this something new, or is it just my wii that started to have a problem with it, and what can i do to fix it.

Hey, so what can we do in the mean time if Tubehax is down?

Are OpenDNS, and ip filtering my only options here? Or is there another DNS that blocks the update server.

I'd just block the necessary ip's however I don't have access to my router settings (residence internet...)

Just leave it as is until tubehax is back up, your wii will not update anyway because it just fails to connect to the internet at all with Tubehax settings setup, even if tubehax is down. This is because your wii u does not have any valid DNS settings when tubehax is down.

Do remember that TubeHax isn't the only blocking update DNS around here, if you combine it with "Chncdcksn hax" then you're assured to have the best uptime on your console while being safe from any update.

An exemple of configuration would be :
DNS 1 : 107.211.140.065 (TubeHax DNS)
DNS 2 : 104.236.072.203 (chncdcksn hax)

And voila! You are granted with maximum service availability while continuing updates prevention. Another good point is : You can access Youtube with Chndcksn.

How does 104.236.072.203 block Nintendo servers? I put it in my browser and it leads to a flooring site. Besides, I have literally never heard of it before. Is it trustworthy?

@Sonic_Cee_Dee It's a DNS server, not meant to be accessed via a browser but being put as primary or secondary DNS on your Wii U. It does block Nintendo servers the same way as Tubehax, by blacklisting a list of domains used to request remote update. A very simple method to test its efficiency is to request a system update from your Wii U settings (Without accepting, of course) and see if you receive an error. If it's the case, you are protected. I'm not the one who manage this DNS but it has been widely used around here, without any problem so far.

Source 1 & Source 2. It's somebody offering an alternative and I've not from suffered 'omgtubehaxdown' since using it.

I really wish there was a sticky for this topic. D;

@bartoruiz It's the same phylosophy as for local exploits hosting, some are willing to host them by themselves, others make use of remote websites to get ride of the constrainst of each method. You cannot always make sure your webserver/DNSserver is up everytime you need, that's why each of us make our own choice depending on how we deal with them. Do not think a DNS server can blow your Wii U though, it might just go down from time to time.

Why so hostile towards chncdcksn? I saw your thread (which is a good alternative) but you seem sort of unnecessarily annoyed with it. I trust it, he seems like a normal person doing something to help others out.

*seems* is good enough for you but that's not enough for me....1 year redditor, no karma pfff. I'm not calling him evil but if he really is, he will wait until more ppl use it's DNS and BOOM! fk them all with updates. Best case scenario it will eventually stop working...much like TubeHax

But like @Cybernatus pointed out, everyone can make our their own choice.

I use ccproxy (free) on a local PC. Works perfectly, and no need to rely on any outside servers. Just block the same urls that are listed in the stickies.

Dang, I would use that but I can't rely on my PC to be on 24/7.

I wish my router had url blocking so it would block the nintendo urls. But it doesn't.
