Dear community,

I'm one of the users that still use a 9.2 sysNAND with a 11.0 emuNAND and uses rxTools to boot.
I really think rxTools is magnificent, it is from my point of view the greatest CFW ever made and the founding father of all later CFWs (which may be better in some aspects, I know).

1. Can I get my OTP by downgrading emuNAND or do I need to downgrade sysNAND?
2. What are the risks?
3. Can I transfer the games on my emuNAND to my sysNAND once A9LH is installed?
4. Can I still use the modified TWL-firm?
5. Can I update my sysNAND once I have A9LH?

There is this guide, which I hear people around here like throwing around, even I link it. This will help you get your OTP.bin safely, and help you get A9LH setup.
Here it is: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

Anyways, the biggest risk is just the initial downgrade to 9.2... which you are already on.

As for transferring your games, yeah, just make a backup of your EmuNAND, then flash it onto sysNAND once A9LH is setup.

Why would you want to continue using a modified TWL-Firm? Just use Luma3DS, it does the patching on it's own. You'll also need to undo TWL modifications, if you are going to follow the guide I linked you.

Sure, as long as you use a CFW with FIRM Protection, like Luma3DS.

Also, rxTools doesn't have an A9LH option yet. So you'll have to dump it in favor of a modern CFW like Luma3DS, that has FIRM protection.

I think you've been on these forums long enough to have seen a link to Plailect's guide by now :-)

WHy is there a risk of downgrading to 9.2? How would you do it safely?
If you use the wrong files or if your 3DS turns itself off during the process, it could brick. It can also have a frankenfirmware due to no fault of your own but they are recoverable (you just downgrade again).

Why is it called franken fimrware?
You ever watch those Frankenstein movies? And how the monster is usually associated as Freankenstein?

Well, the monster in those movies, is usually composed of lots of mix-and-matched pieces, I guess it's a reference to that, and how it's not really a full actual firmware.

Fun fact: Frankenstein is the scientiest, who creates the monster. But most pop culture today associates the name "Frankenstein" to the monster as well, even though it would be better to call it "Frankenstein's monster."

And monster-firmware would probably not sound as catchy or be lost on the masses to it's meaning.

Some n3ds have a weird problem where if they were never formatted there's a chance that you'll softbrick on your way to 9.2. (see: https://github.com/Plailect/PlaiSysUpdater/issues/8). If the device was ever formatted in the past, even if it's been used since, it will not softbrick. We're not entirely sure why this is the case.
