Is there any way to run Vita games that demand more recent firmware without actually updating your firmware? I know the 3DS has CTT-Pwn but I don't know if the Vita has any sort of equivalent. If I can't, I guess I could just update my PS TV and play Downwell there. I don't WANT to, but I'm running out of options.

Yes! XD I now have TN-V
Now I dont know how to put psp iso games ahaha!!
You should place your PSP ISOs inside the TN-V savedata folder, and transfer the savedata over to the Vita again (only this time, it transfers the ISO as well).

Make sure the ISO has a very short name, and is all in capitals, including the file extension.

I finally got the Minecraft game but it wants an updated firmware to 3.36 and I have 3.35...
Your Minecraft must be a reprint! o.O (Mine came with a 3.15 update, but I decided to update to 3.30 for a better Rejuvenate experience anyway. :P)
Anyway, just update from 3.35 to 3.36. There is absolutely no difference between the 2 firmwares whatsoever in terms of blocking hacks.

will my tn-v stay?

I put a few cso iso games on the tnv folder where qcma created for my psvita, changed the name of files to less than 8 letters including the extension but it still won't show T.T

Try naming one of your CSOs to GAME.CSO and see if that works.
If all else fails, you'll just have to transfer normal, uncompressed ISOs (I hear some CSOs aren't very compatability-friendly anyway)

I see, I'll try that tomorrow. Way past my bedtime. So ISOs are better compared to CSO... I'm really glad I installed TN-V now. Transferred the basegame and a ps vita free game via a friend's ps3 and borrowed a minecraft cart that wants to update my system XD

Seriously, update from your 3.35 to 3.36; you will lose absolutely nothing, trust me (as I have done that twice - from 3.01 to 3.15 to 3.30, and I haven't lost a single hack! :P)

SNIP

Edit: I realized you have to retransfer the TN-V Launcher icon on the PSP Other Saved Data option... :U Then install the games on the PSP XMB so I can delete them on my qcma.

I updated but the Minecraft game doesn't have any updates XD
Minecraft PS Vita edition?
Nah, it definitely has updates! You might be having trouble connecting to the update servers. (Actually, you can just disconnect the proxy you were using and update the game without using a proxy, if I remember rightly)

But do remember that you are following the steps for installing PSM Dev Assistant for Unity, so be sure to pause the download when there is a little bit of green showing in the download bar, and follow the instructions from there!

Maybe it hasn't detected the update, been playing offline.

It actually tried to download a system update online yesterday but I cancelled because it was scary, might update my system to the latest version.

Well there you go then. ;)

ALWAYS UPDATE OFFLINE! There will be a good chance that it was downloading the latest FW update. Just stay on 3.36 w/ Minecraft's update payloads to install the Dev Assistant and you should be fine. :)

So it would probably take a while for the game to get the update notification? XD

I'm starting to believe the reprint of minecraft have no updates... XD
It's more than 24 hours. Does updates arrive late? Hm, I wonder how this works.
