I am on AL9H+CFW and I am trying to launch Emunand9 to do a regular sysnand back up and i cant get it to open. I tried homebrew launcher from main menu, then selecting emunand9, it Flashes red screen twice and just goes back to homebrew launcher menu.
I also tried holding Y on boot, and it just goes to my regular home menu like normal instead.
what should i do?
Edit: also noticed menuhax doesn't work (down arrow on boot)

I'll assume that you are using Luma3DS (correct me if wrong).

• Do you have a y_EmuN9.bin file in /luma/payloads on your SD card?
• If you hold the start button on boot, does it load Decrypt9? (you can do the backups from there too BTW)

P.S.: menuhax was patched since 10.6, so if you are not on 10.5 or below, that's why it's not working

Yes holding start worked! Backing it sysnand now. I realize now you're u can't launch emunand9 from within cfw

I realize you already solved your issue.
I just wanted to point out that you CAN launch emunand9 from CFW, for anyone else reading this.
You just download and put in "3DS" folder, then launch it through the HBL.
Same with D9, Luma itself, etc etc.
That's precisely what the OP did. But it didn't work because the method you describe doesn't function on firmwares higher than 9.2. Which is why the OP had to instead boot D9 directly from arm9loaderhax.

That explains it. I actually hadnt tried since installing A9LH.. and before then, when using 9.2.
So you cant load Emu9 or D9 using that method past 9.2, but technically you CAN still launch from CFW.
That CFW just has to be 9.2  why is this though? Just out of curiosity. Is there no way to fix this issue?

The funny thing is that the ARM9 exploit actually wasn't patched until 9.5. But the ARM11 exploit (the original memchunkhax, IIRC) that was used to then chain into the ARM9 exploit was removed in 9.3.

So if someone really wanted to they could use memchunkhax2.1 to boot ARM9 homebrew on firmwares 9.3 and 9.4 as well, but there's not much of a reason to bother with it.
