So Ive seen a few posts here and there about battery drain.

From my personal experience with Emunand both with menuhax and a9lh the battery doesnt seem to be impacted at all when the system is sleeping from just a clean retail unit.

And while playing Monster Hunter I tend to get the ~4 to ~6 hours or so depending on brightness and 3d setting etc. Which is about whats advertised.

Anyone else have any more info about possible battery impact?

Arm9loaderhax should have absolutely zero impact on battery life as it is just a nand patcher and loader.
Unless you run alternative payloads other than cfw, (decrypt9 or Uncart for example) in which your system does not enter sleep mode (it isn't available until arm11 is initialized afaik).

I've heard from the more paranoid lot that running emuNAND has some drain on your battery life. Although my previous testing could not replicate their results and my battery showed about the same battery life both on sysNAND and emuNAND (when I still had emuNAND, I've since stopped using emuNAND in favor of CFW sysNAND.)
As for A9LH, it has no impact on your battery life. If your battery is starting to show different results, please consider testing out another battery to safely determine if your battery is not at fault.

Long time emunand user here. I confirm that there is no battery drain from using it.

My SD seems to get overheated when using emuNAND for a long time - it's not faulty or fake at all though (Sandisk 64) and ever since I've switched over to SysNAND, I've never had that problem again

Hmm its so weird... I was playing Monster Hunter (off a retail cart) on Emunand with Luma. Closed the system to make it go to sleep (was at 50% battery). Within an hour my light turned red. Its as if the system is on (but screens are off so drain is not as big since screens are draining power and no sound etc).

Anyone have an experience like this?

This is on New 3DS by the way (fairly new unit, maybe 2 months old?)

If by 50% you mean two bars, and you left it on for an entire hour, yeah, completely normal.
2 bars mean anything from 50% to 20%.
