Any way that we would be able to utilize the NFC functionality in a homebrew app? Something that might let us manage amiibo .bin's from the 3ds sd card, and possibly write them to an N2/Amiiqo device? Something like the N2 Android app but for the 3ds...

I suppose it would depend on how the NFC chip is supported on the Wii U and XDSs. It would be awesome though, and means that I don;t have to rely on my phone. Someone from the hacking team should contact the Amiiqo team.

Has the encryption already been cracked?
If the encryption has been cracked wouldn't that mean that writing to the Amiibo would be possible?

N2/Amiiqo is closed source so GL making an app let alone making a 3DS working port

Encryption on amiibos has been cracked though you cannot write to amiibos as once an amiibo is made data is locked.
You can however dump amiibos using TagMo.apk and write them to NFC 215 tags.

Well, I might try to see if I can decompile the app and get the source out.

Edit: Manage to decompile the app and it is working, got to see what i can do with it.

Awesome to see someone with much greater understanding of this looking into it. Would be cool to see if its possible to lock/unlock and backup amiibos with just the 3ds.

For some reason I remember being able to unlock my amiibo and load a different version of the same amiibo to it with the usb reader

Hmm, doubt I could lock and unlock via the 3DS, but I'm trying to make the original app better. Do you own an amiiqo? I might require some tester as I try to improve the original app.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
