I know we've all been patiently (and impatiently) waiting for Gateway to finally release their next update, so for all you Gateway owners, what extra feature aside from what's been announced to be coming, would you like to see in Gateway's next public beta?

Personally, I think it'd be cool if they implemented some way to make it so that you don't have to always have the card in in order to access Gateway mode. Yeah, I know, it sounds impractical, but it would be nice, seeing as though the space would be open for DS Flashcards.

I'd like to note that this thread is for Gateway owners to discuss what they'd like to see, as consumers of the product. CFW users are welcome as well, but please, let's all try to be civilized here.

Wouldn't have bothered to even make another thread since it will be closed due excessive trolling like the last thread.

In my case though probably support for games/apps that have manuals so you do not have to find a way to delete the manuals for the app to work if it has one. That and maybe gba support without having to install to sysnand although i doubt that is possible. DS support as well.

This, I would love the same thing. But I would also like to see more features that were impossible according to others, like ds games that we can install and play. Of course that would be like asking for the moon, but still..

I just want A9HL plugin that allows 100% boot rate right into GW mode.. That's all I am waiting for.

I would also like the ability to ditch the card and still get GW mode, but I think that is obviously not going to happen.

A way to play .3ds roms without having to use a flashcart to do it.

Can only dream...
I've actually looked into that, there are a huge number of technical limitations behind it. I highly doubt it would be possible for it to be done (and even if it was, if Gateway made it it would practically put them out of business so why would they make it :P)

I don't really get that besides the lack of installing, .3ds just makes more sense as a flash cart format.

GBA VC support would be nice
They'll probably end up pulling that from luma for a9lh, so that's a pretty good possibility, at least in gateway cfw, probably not in a .3ds format.

I'd really like to see CPU and L2 overclocking in the A9LH payload. Persistence (exit System Settings, boot the same NAND) would be good too. Those are about the only things it's really missing. Might be good for them to assimilate Tux's svcbackdoor reimplementation for future-proofing (but they're probably going to go with an NTR-compatible FIRM for now anyway). And I wouldn't mind seeing an option to store saves on the red card, since we have to reserve space for cheats anyway now. That's where Sky+ has an edge for the moment -- the saves stay on the cart, so you can use them on multiple systems without having to copy them back and forth. GBA/DSiWare would be alright, but we have chain loaders.

As for all this talk about running GW mode without the cart, they already allow that as much as they reasonably can. They let you remove the cart once GW mode boots. You can run all the CIAs you want to in GW mode without the card inserted. You can play real carts in GW mode. You can even use a Sky3DS (not with their menu of course, but it does work). You don't have to put the card in a second time until you reboot (asking them to extend that via reboot patches so that you only need to use the card once per cold boot would be a reasonable request though). You can boot as many systems into GW mode as you want with just one cart. They've been about as generous as they can be without flushing their profits down the toilet. Though they should remove that DS mode block so you can use a DS flash cart. No need to protect an old exploit it doesn't even use, after all.

I don't really get the need for air besides the lack of staying alive.
I don't really get the need for food besides starvation.
I don't really get the need for love besides the lack of sex.

One can downplay the reason for anything by implying that a second reason is necessary, but that doesn't make any such attempt any less foolish. The reason you gave is the reason why some prefer the 3DS format. Another reason isn't necessary.

a full featured a9lh payload, and the ability to boot the gw mode without the card, but i dont use my gateway or 3ds enough so it doesn't really bother me, cfw is still better than gateway, once we get full cheats like gw, gw is dead

I wanna know what they're doing with this a9lh support of theirs. Maybe they've pulled off a way dump the otp using the blue cart (NTRCardHax) or maybe I'm just talking a load of balls. :P
Firmware sets CFG_SYSPROT9 bit 1 far before we get code execution with NTRCardHax. Once this bit it set attempting to dump the OTP is just a stream of zeroes, and this bit isn't cleared until reboot. Only reason we can get OTP at all is because Nintendo forgot to set this bit in less than 3.0.0.

Over on maxconsole, Gary says:
Well Nintendo doing v11 did throw a wrench into it, but not much current test is going well. Also one guy been sick, but better now.

Guess we're getting delayed again. Oh well :P

I hadn't thought of it at first, but Gateway would definitely be throwing their profits away with the whole cardless boot thing. Could you imagine people buying a Gateway for a one-time install, then giving it away to as many people as possible just to spite the company? Other than that I really like the ideas you brought to the table, especially the System settings one. (I don't really have an N3DS, so I wouldn't be able to overclock anyhow).

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
