I just got a Wii U and going to get into the modding scene. Planning to use Loadiine as well as Vwii. So my question are what are the SD limitations and what is the best choice if not even a top 3 would be preferred.

There aren't a lot of good WiiU games so if you decrypt the WUD games right or find the games in the right format then a 64Gb SD is good enough. I use a 128Gb SD and only a handful of games on it.
For Vwii you can load Wii games on a HDD

Anything faster is useless since the wiiu can't read that fast.

Hard to do a top3, you need to search for cards with fast random 4k read/write. I looked and i've found that the samsung evo series is way better than anything else in that regard.. i bought the same card i linked you and got no problems so far (except for the 2-3 games that are slow loading no matter what).

The card is in exfat.. you need to format it in fat from windows and then use this tool http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm to format in fat32.

You can buy one of those Samsungs, but be weary of fakes. I got a Sandisk, less people complained about fakes on those. I got a 128GB, because a 64GB will fill up. I mean Just Dance 2016 alone is already over 16GB. Yoshi Wolly World is 10GB. You can see how 64 can fill up fast. Don't get a super fast UHS3 card, the Wii U can't go that fast anyways. You will need to format in FAT 32, 64k clusters. You can use guiformat, or whatever other formatter you want. I used Easeus Partition Master. Some people say to do a low level format on the card first to make it faster. Not sure if that's true, but if you don't mind waiting, you can try it.

Oh another reeason people should get 128GB cards. When IOSU comes out and we have EMUNAND, that's going to use up what, like 32GB for the EMUNAND right there? At least for the black Wii owners. Maybe that's not how it will work, but I think it's worth the extra $20 just to be safe.

When IOSU comes out (if it comes out ever) then we will be able to use HDDs for games and the SD will only be for RedNand and small homebrews

Maybe. How long is a USB loader actually going to take to code up? It took awhile on the Wii, and that had a larger scene. At first we had to burn games to dvd. Then we had to dedicate a hard drive to weird wbfs format. It was awhile before we got fat32 support, and then even longer to get ntfs support. I don't want to switch to USB until we have Wii U NTFS support, so I can use me vWii drive with Wii U games.
