Hey all,

I've been looking at the guides and tutorials but when looking at the recommended one I've seen ( https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-4-(Getting-the-OTP) ) I've looked though it and the only major worry is downgrading to 2.1, do I just follow the guide and hope or is there something else that needs to be done so that I don't brick the system? (I don't have the n3ds yet but I want to set it up as soon as it arrives)

Before installing 2.1, be absolutely sure that you are in emuNAND or redNAND and not in sysNAND. Also make a backup of your NANDs before this step if you haven't already. Installing 2.1 will cause a brick on whichever NAND it was installed to for a N3DS, and this is normal. However, the point is that you downgrade the emuNAND to 2.1, leaving you with a functional sysNAND to access and unbrick the emuNAND with.

A few other general tips:
- Keep the battery charged so that it doesn't run out in the middle of a NAND writing process, and keep the console plugged in at all times if possible.
- On a N3DS, it may be convenient to keep the back cover unscrewed during the process for easy micro SD card access. However when you are operating the console, make sure the back cover is still attached (you can leave it unscrewed). This minimises the risk of accidentally knocking the 3DS or your table on something and jogging the battery out in the middle of a NAND write (which may cause a brick).

Pay ATTENTION on the WARNING from the tools you are doing your OTP downgrade!
On a NEW 3DS it is VERY important to configure the WiFi BEFORE you DG to 2.1 !!!!!!!!!!
Everything else is a RTFM word for word and you are good ;)
(Thats only a personal meaning......but it worked for me!)

if you forget wifi, you can remove and reinsert battery, then wifi will be on

So, and correct me if I'm wrong:

  • Backup NANDs
  • Downgrade Rednand/emunand to 2.1
  • Use OTPhelper one click setup (make sure that Wi-Fi is on)
  • Restart 3ds and pray
Is this right?

Yep that's it !
(best point is number ONE!!!! MAKE AS MANY BACKUPS AS YOU COULD IT WILL SAVE YOUR NEW 3DS)

P.S. i made my first DG from 10.7 on my NEW 3DS so if you are on a lower FW upgrade it!

I've done most of this before and I know that I should read everything carefully (The last risk I took I had a NAND backup for) and I'm just waiting for it to arrive now
