I want this thread to be like a life telling experience (tell me if it is in the wrong subforum), about how you discovered cfw and what have you done until now (good and bad things equal).

So i think ill start:
Well i got a black o3ds on release and got into tubehax a couple months after it was released and used to brag about me playing megaman x in front of my friends jealous eyes, tubehax broke and i cried :cry::cry: (because i couldnt buy a cubic ninja since im from costa rica).
Months passed and a friend sent me a pm where he sent a beutiful post with browserhax and since then ive used oothax, ninjahax, browserhax and installed a whole bunch of a9lh (i have a crush with a9lh:ha:).

So whats your cfw story?

followed wurstpistoles great TUT to make my virgin N3DS XL MM Edition a CFW rxtools "edition" ;)

then I switched to reinand just a few weeks ago because hyrule warriors legends wouldn't run on the outdated rxtools.
everything is fine so far and I do not feel the need to switch to a9lh.

i jumped to a9lh just because i have a very poopy-handed brother so i can avoid him messing with the NAND ^_^

my N3DS setup auto-boots to emuNAND so I do not have to worry about noobs using it.

a SD card fullbackup is always a good idea.

i have a full backup of all the 3ds's ive messed with (heck even those ive been paid for). But my brother loves to learn from what i do so thats the best way i can do it ofr us two to enjoy a9lh.

PD: i dont like having emunand :gun::gun::gun:

I entered the world of 3ds "hacking" right when tubehax was released, continuing with oothax and then downgrade came and I was super excited,so I set up rxTools.
And today here we are with a fantastic AuReiNand + a9lh :P

i just dont like it because of how my setup is because ive made like a dual sysnand to connect through my house network and move cias, make install on the cloud, etc. Basically having an emunand would mess up those two and fuck my hard work :toot::toot:

I never tried 3DS homebrew until Ironhax came out. So when that was announced I downloaded Ironfall to make sure that I had homebrew access, but never did much of anything with it.

Once memchunkhax2 was announced, I started researching emunand and other aspects of the more powerful homebrew allowed by older firmwares. Then once the downgraders were more or less stable I downgraded to 9.2. My first CFW was rxTools since that's what most guides at the time were set up for. But some later I moved on to ReiNand, which I stuck with until I started hearing about efforts to make arm9loaderhax an achievable goal for the masses.

So once the original OTP guide was tested well enough for my liking, I downgraded to 2.1, got the OTP, installed a9lh, and set up AuReiNand which I am still using.

what is it that makes AuReiNand so compelling to everybody?

Discovered Tubehax last October.
Started homebrew dev on November.

Got my 8.1 2DS for Christmas (downgraded my O3DSXL later).

started with just wanting a custom f-zero x theme on my o3dsXL(since noone even made one, I made it myself.)
then it was emulators
got a copy of cubic ninja during the tubehax montage when the game went down to $30
then downgrading finally came around a year after I got my 3ds
downgraded to 9.2, got rxtools (the whole process took me about 5 hours)
pirated smash so I could give my cartridge copy to my friend who can't afford new games.
don't need a9lh since I don't have much of a need or use for it at the moment.

also, I feel like this is in the wrong subforum (shouldn't it be under cfw stuff?)

I started out a clean Black old3DS running 10.3 for Christmas.
Shortly after I got it a downgrader was made for 10.3. So I downgrade from 10.3 to 9.0 (9.2 wouldn't work for me.) And installed Menuhax and RXTools/CakesFW.
From there I followed several guides to install A9LH, but fucked up my NAND switch and overwrote my Firm0/1. So I had to send it out to be temp hardmodded. Got it back and had it running A9LH with AuReiNAND.
Now I am running SaltFW as my main with AuReiNAND, ReiNAND, and CakesFW.

I had a regular blue o3ds xl, in fw 4.4, but I idiotically updated it to 9.4 ;-; then I checked Gbatemp and Palantine's cfw was already released... Yes, I'm retarded ;-;

I had to wait for the new sysupdater with memchunkhax2 to be released, after which I downgraded to 9.2 and installed rxtools.

I recently joined the a9lh master race following @Plailect's guide, running Updated Sysnand with AuReiNand \o/
