I'm wonder why it is that all these guide and tutorials refer to using an SD card.. I'm really confused. I got everything setup and stuck my sd card in my Wii u come to find nothing happeneds..

So I guess it's just for well idk??

And the guides and tutorials could have said using a thumb drive or external hard drive instead?
Could someone shed some light.

I need a smart water about now..

That's all we can access without IOSU. We cannot access the USB on the wii u side with kernel access only. Has to be sd.

Why don't you tell use what step on the definitive guide where you are having issues and maybe we can try to help you get up and going.

What firmware are you on? Let's start with that.

Sorry I should have gave more details I'm trying this out at work

5.3.2 is my firmware and the SD card slot won't recognize any of my SD cards.. On an SD card with a USB adapter.

As to the guide I guess you can say I've formated my SD card to fat32 and setup everything for loadiine. And the Wii won't recognize the extra storage.

format your sd with fat32 file system.
USB is out of the question on wii u. Forget about it for now. Are you using a micro SD with an adapter? What brand and what size? Also, please read the definitive guide in the stickies and report back. All these questions are answered there.

No. It doesn't show as extra storage. That has nothing to do with wii u homebrew.

Have you set up self hosting or are you using online site? Have you been able to successfully exploit it yet? That's really step 1

Okay thanks. Deep.

Well when I'm home and can get working on it.
Could you suggest a webpage for my wiiu to launch the kernel/loadiine

There are some listed in the definitive guide. I personally don't use online. Self hosting works way better.

Also, I misspoke. Step one is blocking updates or you will be very pissed when Nintendo updates you to a "non-hackable" firmware. Again, also in the definitive guide

I read the definitive guide. Using tubehax. Is self hosting more reliable or something?

Yes because you're not relying on a connection out to the internet. It's all on your home network. I use xampp on an extra pc. It works perfectly.

It also allows me to try new Web stuff without waiting for someone to update their site.

Really tho, as long as you are running latest Homebrew Launcher then all the new stuff will work from there. Lemme know if you run into any trouble when you get started.

Well I've got everything on my ad card. Using wiiu.rapidraid and clicking on kernel looking at the weird pixel display/freeze powering off wiiu. Done it about 25 times now... This is fun

I do not mean to be insulting, but this has happened to me so it might be worth mentioning.

Are you certain your folder structure is correct?

on the root of your sd-card should be a folder named "wiiu" which has three folders inside of it, "apps", "games" and "saves".

The relevant one in this case is "apps" in which should be seperate folders for loadiine and the homebrew launcher.

If everything is set up correctly then you might want to look into using updated versions of said programs.

Latest Homebrew loader releases: https://github.com/dimok789/homebrew_launcher/releases
Latest Loadiine GX2 Nightlies: http://calvinbui.github.io/ (simply replace the elf-file with a later release).

Hope you can get it working. Good luck.

I prefer to selfhost the loadiine gx2. using my android device and Palapa Web Server (check this on playstore), it runs like a charm. :grog:
