During OTP helper one click setup, my friend dropped his 3ds and the SD card popped out. Now it turns on to a black screen with or without the SD card. Is it bricked?

Can you enter the 3DS recovery mode?
  1. Power off your 3DS by holding down the power button.
  2. Hold L+R+A+Up.
  3. Power on the 3DS.

This will work if Recovery is still intact, which it probably is. Had this been a New3DS, it would be a different story as depending on how far it got as the Recovery update may end up downloading the O3DS 10.7 files and really bricking it.

Why was your friend holding the 3DS during the one click setup anyway?
also, try recovery mode, which @OrGoN3 mentioned above my post (I quoted it in mine also).

And here we have the "stupid friend" that always messes up our 3ds's.

The biggest lesson I always learn in the temp is to NEVER lend your 3ds to a "friend".

correction, @JIOtaku did not lend his 3ds and the friend messed it up
in this case, the friend messed up his own 3ds.

I usually don't call people out for bricks, but this one was really one in a million lol. I always set the 3ds down on a flat surface when an important process is going on.

Who's so stupid to walk around/keep holding a 3DS while doing OTP
As soon as you start it, put it down on a safe place and let it do it's job
(or have it on a safe spot on a table before doing OTP)
This goes for anything with brick potential. The initial 9.2 downgrade, any NAND restoration, even official updates. Plug it in, put it on a safe, flat surface, and don't touch the thing.

if the recovery dont work, most likely its bricked. since he's already on OTP step, then he must have nand backups already. Hard mod and inject the sysnand_formatted should fix it. Then simply restore emunand_formatted, downgrade rednand to 2.1 then OTP one click setup again..
