Hello !
First of all, sorry for my bad english ^^"
I currently have Cakescfw on my o3ds (A9LH sysnand mode, I installed it with that guide when it was with cakes only https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Get-Started), and I want to know what difference there are with AuReiNand (I searched but I can't find some good answer). I hear many good things about AuReiNand and I hesitate about changing cfw.

How can I change cfw ? Does it erased my data ?

Also, can I have multiple cfw with A9LH (like that I can test either cfw) ? I know there are program who let you do it (ctrbootmanager I think), but I don't know how it work. And can it boot automatically on one of the two ?

Thanks in advance ^^

There are many threads about this, but I'll try to summarize it:

Personally, I prefer AuReiNand over Cakes. Since you're on the old 3ds, it's basically required to use AuReiNand because of the superior reboot patch (affects games like Smash 4 and Monster Hunter 4U). AuReiNand also will implement AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM patching, which will let you play custom gba games and DSiWare.

Changing CFW is pretty painless! You don't lose any data and just have to change around some files on your SD card.

To switch, just follow the preparatory work and Configuring AuReiNand section of this guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-5-(arm9loaderhax-&-AuReiNAND)

AuReiNand is more noob-proof and CakesFW is more for advance users
AuReiNand always block the FIRM0/1 partitions if A9LH is detected and in CakesFW that is optional even with A9LH
AuReiNand have AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM patches, and Cakes have the AGB_FIRM patch but not TWL_FIRM yet (since yesterday for O3DS and add today for N3DS)
Mid-kid implemented the AuReiNand reboot patch for CakesFW
AuReiNand have a payload loader implemented

Now they are almost the same features, just a matter of time for the only difference will be the native payload loader (Cause Aurora Wright and mid-kid work together sometimes)

You can actually run multiple CFW's using CtrBootManager9
I am currently running AuReiNAND as my main, with ReiNAND, CakeFW, and now Mizuki. I also have Decrypt9, EmuNAND9, and uncart on the same menu to boot menu.
Personally prefer AuReiNAND over CakesFW. The added features like AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM patches and Firm1/0 by default make it an amazing CFW for my sysNAND.
Edit: I forgot! AuReiNAND has a boot splash and I am sucker for boot splashes!

Ahah, me too ^^"

Thanks poeple :D
Well, I think I'll test AuReiNand and see what I think of it. Since it's easy to change, I'll not have problems ^^ I think I also will try ctrBootManager9 to test multiple firmware ^^

Anyway, thanks ^^

So I've installed AuReiNand and it seem to work fine for now. Now I want to install CtrBootManager9 to have the choice to boot on either cfw. But I have 2 problems.
1 - I can't find cakes.bin to boot on cakes. How can I find/make it ?
2 - I take the default configuration file for ctrBootManager9 (that one https://github.com/Cpasjuste/CtrBootManager/blob/a9lh/data/a9lh.cfg) but it won't boot automatically on AuReiNand (it boot fine fine when I select it on the menu). In the setting, it is on autoboot on AuReiNand. How can i solve that problem ?

EDIT : Nevermind for 2, I think I found why (it was set of to autoboot after 1 sec)

1. In the folder that have the Cakes.dat, hold shift and right click it an chose to open that folder on terminal/prompt and digit
  • dd if=Cakes.dat of=arm9loaderhax.bin bs=512 skip=144
2. There is a timer to autoboot, it's set to 3 sec normally
