Hi everyone,

I'm been playing Pokemon Fire Red on a website and now I'm trying to use the save file on VBA with no luck. I'm doing this to hopefully try and trade certain pokemon (Kadabra/Haunter) which I believe is possible using VBA.

http://www.miniplay.com/game/pokemon-firered-version

This is where i've been playing it, it uses an emulator called Nesbox. I've tried a few different things on VBA that I've seen on other threads without success.

The files save as .save and doesn't show up when trying to load in VBA. I saved a copy of the file as .sav and tried 'Import Battery File' but got a '1m sub-circuit board is not installed' message on VBA. Heard something about this being due to 64k and 128k. The file size is 64kb.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The first thing that comes in mind is a save converter. If you search a little, maybe you could find one (I've never seen .save before, though).

Thanks, I've searched and found nothing and threads discuss different file types (.sav .sg etc...). I'm playing it through a website (miniplay.com) and have tried all the methods I've found on the VBA (import battery file, gameshark etc...) and had no luck.

Is this Nesbox emulator not a particularly well-used one?

Oh, I think I figured it out! You don't actually export the save file on that emulator, you export a snapshot (using the save state function). So you don't actually need to convert the .save to a .sav, but to a .sps or something similar. I didn't have any success on finding such converter though. I've also never heard of nesbox but maybe it's because I'm not very informed about the emulator scene.

Great thanks, I'll give it a go, I'm assuming when I save i simply add .sps to the end of the file. Will try that and play around with the VBA and hope it works and post results, thanks a lot!

Nope no luck, just get an error message and/or VBA crashes and shuts down.
