So recently, my 3DS has been acting a bit...strange lately. Earlier before this stuff, I had pulled out my SD Card & put it into my SD Card Reader for the use of Homebrew. When I took it out, & tried to put it back in, it was rejecting the SD Card Slot for some weird reason. I originally thought it was an SD Card problem, since it was immediately powering off & making a popping noise (I was aware of the ribbon cable issue, but that wasn't it), so I tried my other SD Card. Didn't work at all. My other SD Card was just saying, "Could not detect SD Card. The software could not be displayed.", & me being stupid, I was trying to boot up my 3DS without formatting the SD Card first. Several days later, I tried formatting the SD Cards & my 3DS; nothing. Even back then, I was being stupid, because there was something stuck in there, & eventually got it out recently (my stupidity being trying to make it work with the thing stuck in there). After getting the broken part of my SD Card out (yes, I forgot to mention my original SD Card was chipped for some reason; the flap was broken, exposing the chip, & the lock was gone, but I put tape on it to prevent it from becoming write protected), I tried putting my other SD Card back in, & went to Data Management; it said, "No SD Card Found" under each section. I can't play Smash Bros. or Pokémon on my 3DS, because of these issues. Before you ask, I did research, & I'm not looking forward to trying to repair it. Literally have $37 in my wallet, & that won't help me out at all. My mom doesn't want me to try & open it, & that's what's really hindering me as of now. Kinda on a time crunch, because I have until March 24th to fix this, & that's when my Game Night is. Overall, I need help.

It sounds to me that the SD board components have fried. Sounds like a failed capacitor to me. You would need to open up the console to check for the damage unfortunately. We can't help you any further without seeing images of the SD reader and mobo.

Well, R.I.P. me. My 3DS just got stolen, too.
