I actually feel that it was a mistake for the guide to assume that everybody would want to swap their NANDs. It didn't used to in earlier versions, and this case demonstrates why not everybody would want to.

Anyway, if you boot into 9.2 using the correct key combination to force firmware90, Gateway should work via menuhax.
Well, there's no point to an emuNAND as anymore. Besides the use of Gateway, but in all honesty, what's the point?
(I think the mistake was the guide switching to Cakes, caused more problems to it's users.)

you mean put EmuNAND9.bin and Launcher.dat and starterGen folder in the root of SD card ?
how i trigger it when booting 3DS?
Read the section of the OP on how to boot arm9loaderhax payloads.

I agree with the problem of switching to CakesFW, it still can't decreypt the firmware when using a9lh as an entrypoint.

My main reason is this (posted this in another thread):
More user friendly, and generally safer. I'll be honest with you, when the guide switched to Cakes, people with issues started to rise (I know OTPHelper was bugged for a bit, but this has nothing to do with this), especially over at the 3dshacks subreddit. Once I helped them setup AuReiNAND, their issues disappeared.

that ?

- If using Arm9LoaderHax, unpack the arm9loaderhax.bin to the root of the SD card.
- Else copy ReiNand.dat to the root of the SD card and the 3dsx/smdh to the appropriate folder. If using menuhax and you don't wish to use a boot manager (such as BootCtr and CtrBootManager), you can use the boot.3dsx from the menuhax folder. Copy it to the root of the SD.
In all cases, copy the rei folder to the root of the SD card, and put the firmware.bin in it. New and Old 3DSes have different firmwares!
a) You can use the latest FIRM (the 10.4 one). They are in the rei-n3ds and rei-o3ds folders in the FIRMs.7z.
b) If, instead, you need to use NTR CFW, the 9.6 FIRM for Old3DS and the 10.2 FIRM for New3DS are needed. They are in the rei-n3ds and rei-o3ds folders inside the "NTR" folder in the FIRMs.7z.

So I did my A9LH setup again but this time I chose my sysNAND 9.2 to be on sysNAND and kept a emuNAND 10.6 in my micro SD. Removed the flag and AuReiNand now boots to my emuNAND when I power the console on. If I hold L this boots my sysNAND 9.2 (using firmware90.bin) and I can launch Homebrew Launcher and, from there, chose GW.3dsx, which now loads Gateway perfectly!

can you explain more details this part?
my sysNand is 10.7 CFW AuReiNand & emunand 9.2, how you did A9LH setup again?
what flag need to remove?

Use the A9LH version of it.

Create an empty file in the /rei/ folder. It should have no extension. See the OP for what the flags are and what they can do.

thank you very much.

could you explain what this does though i am lost, i do read but what does it exactly mean with the .dat and .3dsx files ><"

""/rei/installeda9lh": If, for some reason, you want to use the non-A9LH version of the CFW (the .dat + .3dsx from HBL) after booting with the 9.0 FIRM on Arm9LoaderHax, you can force A9LH behavior by creating this file. It's not needed otherwise."

Usage of Gateway is mainly useful for people like me who bought a Gateway long before free CFW existed. I now use AuReiNand as my main CFW, but I do need to use Gateway sometimes because of the MicroSD card in there. I have a 64GB MicroSD in the New 3DS itself and 32GB MicroSD card in my Gateway. I don't particularly want to lose that 32GB by fully ditching Gateway. So I still load up Gateway now and again.

Well, if you have your arm9loaderhax.3dsx (the arm9 hax installer) you can set your A9LH easily again.

-Flash your sysNAND (your original 9.0/9.2) back to your sysNAND, put your emuNAND 10.7 back on your SD, prepare your HAX* (browserhax, ninjhax, etc), put your arm9loaderhax.3dsx again inside your 3ds folder.
-Go to your rei folder and remove this file (if you have one) updatedsysnand (this is the file that tells your A9LH and AuReiNand to boot directly to your sysNAND instead of your emuNAND).
-Put firmware.bin and firmware90.bin inside rei folder

PS: REMOVE ANY NAND.BIN and emuNAND.BIN file from the root of your SD card before

-Now follow the last part of your A9LH tutorial (the part that tell you to run arm9loaderhax.3dsx)

This will setup A9LH again to your sysNAND 9.2 and since you removed the updatedsysnand flag you'll boot to your emuNAND instead of sysNAND.
If you want to boot your sysNAND 9.X turn your console on while holding L. This will allow you to have access to firmware 9.X and Homebrew Loader, from which you could access GW.3dsx and boot Gateway emuNAND.

This is what I have done and both A9LH and gateway are working flawlessly here for me.

Cheers!

I love the latest release. My system now boots at ~9.5 seconds. So fast! Now, I won't need to use a separate bootloader. Thanks for being awesome :grog:
