Then maybe buy the actual games?
I live in Portugal, where nintendo DS games are no longer for sale and it's ridiculously illegal to sell/buy a flashcard.
So the point of this thread was to see if there ALREADY existed a way to launch NDS roms from a DSi exploit.

this point is . . . pointless . . . what will you (legally) play via a nds mode exploit? if you cant buy a game to personally back up . . . nothing you will need to break the law (by downloading roms) in order to use any loader regardless of whether its a hardware solution or software . . . so why care that buying the flashcard is illegal . . . simply use a vpn to spoof your country location so you get past any internet blocks and buy a flashcard

The same way I can save like $15 and just use a VPN to download ROMs. And I think Nintendo DS is abandonware

i see where you are coming from . . . but not being sold in your country does not make it abandon-ware . . . honestly in many country's (like the usa) you can still go into a retail store (like target) and find new (as in not used) ds games. simply put nintendo still profits from them (barely but they do) so they are not abandoned yet . . . so any non-homebrew .nds roms will be illegal

Edit: also if your country recognizes the flashcard as illegal then they more than likely view the rom as illegal as well

And what if you can't legally buy one? I live in the Netherlands. I want a flashcart, but due to some trial held in 2011 I can't buy any flashcarts in any Dutch webshop.

I recommend grabbing a R4i Gold 3DS from GBATemp's trusted seller NDS-card. Supports all firmwares pretty much (at least between 9.2 and 10.7). Not too sure about emunand and you'll likely need a patched TWL firm but I personally use AuReiNand and I don't quite remember for RxTools let alone for old3ds models.

URL for the flashcard: http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149

I also live in the netherlands and i bought that one. Nothing illegal about it. It ships perfectly. As for downloading roms - I can obviously not link the website(s) here as that is against the forum rules but there are plenty that work on Dutch wlan. Seriously... our ISP don't give a rats ass.. trust me... not for rom sites nor torrent sites. (FYI I have Telfort and Telfort uses the KPN network as it's their sister company so yeah.. if any ISP would care it would be KPN but they don't)

Edit: I suppose if you want more help on the flashcard shoot me a pm.

i find this hard to believe if a flashcard is illegal in your country
Even TRYING to sell it used is not , its sell in retail stores is illegal.

Yeah that's the point, downloading ROMs in my country is OK, but the use of fladhcards isn't which is kind of ironic.
Also I could safely say 80% of torrent sites are blocked

Yeah because payment and shipping all rely on an IP address..
payment should not be a problem but yes you got me on the shipping part but i can get them sent to the usa where they are also not legal i dont know what kind of flashcard sniffing dogs you think are employed by dlh (the Chinese equivalent of ups/fedex) or at your local post office's anti flashcard division (or AFD) . . . ok im going off the rails here but come on there are so many far more important things they look for (weapons drugs) that a simple flashcard is not something they are trained to screen for

I'm not saying I disagree with you. I think it's ridiculous if a country is gonna confiscate it as "illegal goods" or something, just saying that it doesn't help OP at all, so if it's really his country we should not blame him.

Sort of related; can flashcarts actually be considered "illegal" or infringing on anything? Wouldn't they basically fall under the same category as emulators, which obviously are legal?

I wish people would stop saying "Buy a flashcart" nobody cares if they are $5 the point is "Can I do it without a Flashcart"
The answer is: Not yet

The question was not "Can I play DS ROMs for free? If so how? Oh and if not yet then yell at me and tell to buy a Flashcart and stop being cheap" The point of a pirate is to be cheap piracy is aquiring something WITHOUT paying for it, in the NDS days it was a monopolized flashcard market but in this day and age we dont need those

Will they be installable to SD Card: Maybe eventually with the right CFW Patches

dont get me wrong it would be great if there were a way to acomplish nds roms on 3ds without a flashcard but to say we dont need those is to say you have a solution so "we"obviously do need them still

also
i know people dont like hearing buy a flashcard (pirates are free and they dont pay) news flash you paid a lot more than 5-15 bucks for the system without a problem (and likely got a larger sd card for piracy) unless you stole the system and sd card (if that's the case i got a list i need you to fill for me ;)) just get over it . . . things cost money in this life . . . sometimes even pirates gotta spend some coin
