Although officially the 3DS family supports memory cards up to 32GB, I understand that SDXC cards should work so long as they're formatted to FAT32, is that right? Has anyone experienced problems with using a 128GB micro SD card before? Specifically, I'm looking at the SanDisk Ultra model.

Also, is it true that larger capacity SD cards will perform slower than smaller capacity ones under FAT32? I read somewhere that a 128GB card will perform 25% slower than a 32GB one, but didn't quite understand the technical reason behind this.

(Oh, and PSA to members in the UK, Argos is having a sale and the aforementioned SanDisk Ultra 128GB is currently 40% off at £29.99. This applies to both micro and macro SD cards.)

I think that you can't use the 128 gb in your 3DS but you can try buying one in Amazon and if later it doesn't work you can't return the sd to Amazon

Well, just finished migrating everything to the new 128GB card. Everything's pretty much the same except emuNAND takes ~3 seconds longer to boot up. I can live with that. I didn't need to fill up half of its capacity, things are working just fine. There's no noticeable change in in-game performance either in terms of saving/loading times.

Lucky You :)
All worked fine, just not showing my installed games, so i have to redo everything and fill up the card, before i copy back all files.

[EDIT]
Just had to fill it up till 99GB was free, then everything worked perfect :)
