I have been away for a bit and seem to have missed a wave of something incredibly useful...
What is it?
What advantages does it give over someone with N3DS 9.2 SysNAND 10.5 EmuNAND - ReiNAND?
Any guides on how to do it?
What's the chance of a brick?

Thanks for any help :)

* you can boot into cfw with 100% success
* boots a lot faster than menuhax + cfw
* you can boot cfw in sysnand, so you no longer have to install GBA vc games twice
* update blocker in AuReiNand
* basic recovery menu with decrypt9 (flash NAND backup)
* cant launch homebrew launcher on boot
* some payloads need to be updated to work in armloader9hax

Yes there is a chance of brick unless you follow latest guide step by step.

I would wait till a more complete recovery menu is developed. The only worth i see with using armloader9hax.

There is a very small chance of brick, even if you follow the guides step-by-step.

It is my opinion that Arm9LoaderHax is not currently worth the time, effort, nor risk. I'm using it now, and it limits your boot options due to the current lack of support from other emuNANDs and the fact that it can't load 3dsx files. If you want to cold boot into AuReiNand, it's not bad to have for the 100% boot success rate and the speed. However, if you want to cold boot into anything else (Homebrew Launcher, rxTools, Gateway, etc.), it makes things more inconvenient. You can also cold boot into AuReiNand without Arm9LoaderHax a few seconds slower with 90-95% success anyway using menuhax.

TL;DR, stick with menuhax until Arm9LoaderHax becomes more tantalizing. Menuhax is more versatile and convenient right now.

It's a somewhat risky process. The hardest and most time consuming part is getting the OTP.bin (A console specific file you have to downgrade sysNAND to 2.1 then run some crazy stuff to get it) then after that you just use it to compile the arm9loaderhax.bin, either on your own, or there are some automated services coming around, then you're set basically! I sorta see it like a permanent entry point, kinda like menuhax in a way, but it runs even earlier so you can get into a recovery mode type thing, plus it's a lot quicker and feels a lot more natural. You can have it set up to boot straight into your emuNAND, making it feel like you're just booting into your normal DS.

Check out the tutorials section, there a lot of good ones out there, but the biggest one is going to be to get the OTP.bin, you should find that tut in there pretty easily.

There is a chance of brick since it's still pretty new, but I would say if you're smart and know what you're doing with this kinda thing and follow the guide then you should be fine.

It has a update blocker?, isn't aureinand been updated so you can update without the system installing the new firm0 and firm1?

Is not being able to coldboot into Homebrew Launcher that big of a deal? I'm not sure why you'd want to when you're already guaranteed a CFW environment, just run the Homebrew Launcher CIA from the Home menu.

But yes, it is still early days. It's really nice but it takes a lot of effort to get it and not a lot has been written directly targeting it. No rush.

That whole "Don't have to install GBA games twice" thing is nonsense to me. That's only for stingy people who just HAD to have it in emunand. It's very much possible to comfortably play GBA games in sysnand. Just boot MiniPasta every time you want to play GBA games. If your sole purpose for turning on your 3DS was to play a GBA game, just boot into MiniPasta. The games force you to reboot the system anyways when you exit a game.

In the end, you will be booting into something just to play those GBA games. In order to install them to sysnand in the first place, you need to install them with MiniPasta.

Overall, to me it's not completely necessary to install the games twice, just install them once and enjoy them. People make it seem like you HAVE to install them twice and there's no alternatives.

Sorry for the rant, Im not saying this against you, but to everyone who does not think outside of the box when it comes to GBA VC games.

I love armhax, I still use GW with the use of menuhax on sysnand when I need it and booting .3dsx homebrew loader from a .cia file to me is more convenient

or you could just boot rx mode sysnand for gba games or rx mode emunand for everything else. Thats what I was doing the first few days before I dumped my OTP for my 2ds. I'm still on the fence with my Japanese N3ds still running menuhax+GW.3dsx feels like the stoneage now with arm9hax around

This, and even if you really want them in your emuNAND (so you have to install them twice), what's preventing you? It's a one time install and they are probably not the biggest thing on your SD card, even when installed twice. So I really don't get how that's a drawback but "do things on sysNAND instead of more safely on emuNAND" isn't.

There are some kind of forwarders over there that takes only some kbs and let you play gba games installing the game and its forwarder

i only see this as advantage

* you can boot into cfw with 100% success
* boots a lot faster than menuhax + cfw

other advantages can also be done by regular cfw/menuhax

Look for the OTP Guide in the tutorials section to get things started. Then after that you just have to set up an a9lh-compatible cfw.
