Hacking How to go about doing these things?

Hey all this may seem like a very noobish question, I have done a lot of lurking around and I know roughly a few various things but there is soo much information and things are always changing and its all spread around the place nothing really simple and consolidated for new people to the scene and 3DS stuff in general.

I'm looking for a simple way to achieve the ability to play and keep games and the system firmware updated and grab eShop CIA's that don't come in cart form and translations etc.

I currently have homebrew 2.6 on my sysnand 10.3 I used susypdater from 10.1 which was a cart update from 9.5 which came with the system a couple weeks ago.

I have a Sky3DS+ and the Cubic Ninja cart and hax with it.

Also have the legit CIA's installed into sysnand from FBI.

Browser doesn't work after 10.1 dummy browser from the cart 10.3 has the browser but shows 'An error has occurred' every link I click with or without the SDcard no matter how many times I clear the data the browser app works but just cant go anywhere without it erroring.
I have seen this a few times but the only suggestion is to clear data. I believe it related to the browser firmware check when a link is clicked. As I use the Tubehax DNS that blocking that check so its erroring as a result.

Though I do have the Sky3DS+ and NinjaHax.

Anyway I know about Sysupdater and what can happen and risks, FBI etc as well as CHMM2 with leaving a theme on when updating etc.

I believe Relinand is what I need and I could run 2 emunands as well replace sysnand with the new arm exploit.

But overall not too sure as all this info is spread out and not as easy to follow as I had hoped, so its a bit overwhelming to me learning homebrew FBI etc was a little overload at the time for me but easy now I know about it.

So I want those in the know to give me a opinion on the best way on how to keep games updated use eShop CIS's for games that don't come in cart form, use translations like Labyrinth etc.

Don't care about online or local play as I'm not much of a sociable person then bonus for the rare occasion if any but not needed.

Just want something that's easy to use can keep updated and play all types of games.

Know about the ISO sites etc.

I know what emunand is compared to sysnand etc as I have a PSPGo and Wii them installed.

Was going to come and update my post and know about Nintendo's 9.3 kernel block that stops access and why post that only userland sandbox is accessible as well as 10.4 block that affects downgrading and 10.6 browserhax block.



So done my research and know I need to downgrade first just not the procedure post that to get a simple setup I can keep updated for my needs.

If you do a search of the forums you should be able to find a tutorial (there's one with like 1000 replies). I believe the generally accepted practice is to use safesysupdater to check the update files (it does the hash checking automatically for you) then use Julian20's version of sysupdater to do the actual downgrade because it's a little better than the version safesysupdater was based on.

Yeah you need to downgrade to 9.2, set up a emuNAND using the Gateway menu then use your emuNAND CFW of choice, I'd recommend rxTools though I can't say much about it since I use Gateway emuNAND

You should be able to keep emuNAND on latest fw (although when an update is available just check online for compatibility first just in case). If you want to unlink your sysNAND and emuNAND so they don't share the same files on the SD card and interfere, you can take out the SD card then format your 3DS's sysNAND from the settings (if you have any NNIDs set up this might be an issue, say if you do)

Then lastly you might wanna make accessing your emuNAND easier so you don't have to manually run an exploit and launch it, for this I'd recommend installing menuhax which you can do from the homebrew launcher but NOT through ninjahax, its gotta be browserhax. Hopefully after you downgrade your browser works

I'm on a New3DSXL so reinand is recommended from what I saw but you can install multiple nands I read but at the moment just want a simple setup without too many steps etc I can keep games updated etc and play non cartridge games like eShop only JRPG's etc.

I have menuhax installed from ninjahax from the Sky3DS+ worked fine I think I ran FBI through ninjahax once to install the legit CIA's as at the time I felt it was a slightly better try rate.

I don't have a Gateway yet but was mby planning to get one later if needed as well as a N2 if I ever have a need for those.

I don't have a NNID at all as I've never been to eShop or set one up, basically just want to have game updates etc and if games can do that without a NNID then all good.

I read about a emunand cold boot system which broke on 10.6 that allows direct booting to emunand from poweron.

Can someone link me to a easy to use guide or video on reinand or what they reconmend for a New3DSXL?

Look for a guide called something like, "set up CFW on new 3DS without OoT or CN"

Don't know what an N2 is. If you don't have a Gateway already then you don't need one.

By the way you are likely to get more replies when you ask shorter questions. I have noticed that threads asking for help that are big walls of text tend to get a lot fewer replies than ones that ask their questions in three lines or less :-) The ones with big walls of text are either ones asking 30 questions at once which people would feel a bit exhausted trying to answer, or there are only two or three questions hidden in the wall and it's too much work for people to try to pick them out. Generally the only info people need is 1. whether it is old or new 3ds 2. what version of cfw are you running if any, 3. what firmware is your sys and emunand on if applicable. If people need more info than that to answer a particular question they will ask.

I was confident enough to start setting up CFW today but I hit a issue that I cant load Rainand.

Downgrade went extremely smoothly no issues at all.

Made a backup of sysnand straight away.

Emunand9 made the emunand system and I used its starter pack instead of my current HBL menu stuff.

I put in various firmware.bin files from Rainand and my own downloaded from the official servers using the cakes tutorial, tried Rainand from grid launcher and failed both black screens as well as the Rainand 3dsx files.

I put in CTLboot and got the rainand splash but bottom screen blank.

Lastly I used emu9 to recopy the sysnand as mby something went weird and same issue no boot.

Can anyone help?

I have the right folders etc as far as I can tell but something isn't working.

UPDATE: IT WORKS, didn't tell me to press start to boot I did that and it loaded.

Anyway to get it booting straight in without the splash start screen?

Update 2: Got everything done finally on latest version 10.6 just got to learn things now like if theirs a CIA to launch the homebrew menu.
