So, how should my SD card look if I just want to be able to use arm9loader to autoboot emuNAND, while also being able to hold a button combo so that I can load a patched sysNAND capable of playing GBA/DSi games? I don't need to load a >=9.6firm or the reboot patch so I'm just a little confused...
I'm curious about this too.

Instant and 100% reliable boot (no more menuhax and kernel exploits failures), you can mess with SysNAND as much as you want. In the future, you will be able to update SysNAND to the latest FW.
Wait, does this mean installing cia files in sysnand 9.2 and play them for now?

[EDIT]
Someone should make a descent guide/tutorial (read noob friendly) on how to use OTP with ReiNAND mod and autoboot into ReiNAND Mod CFW EmuNAND on O3DS and N3DS.

I was researching this post for 'what is that sh*t??' since 2 weeks ago. Very thanks :D

source/firm.c: In function 'patchFirm':
source/firm.c:116:21: error: 'a9lh' undeclared (first use in this function)
if(!console && !a9lh && mode &&
^
source/firm.c:116:21: note: each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in
make: *** [build/firm.o] Error 1

WTF?! Why I can compiler aureinand?!
If you remove the !al9h from that especific point of firm.c, it'll build fine.
Don't know if will work, through.

@Aurora Wright : Nice mod, really. I'm using it on my both N3DS XL consoles as a third boot option.

I just have one issue. In homescreen while having a program/game in background, when I put the device into sleep mode, the cfw will sometimes freeze after waking it up. The screens are just freezing and I have to power cycle the device. I'm not having this issue on GW.
I know it's strange, because this cfw *should* do on the fly patching, but I'm sure it's not a hardware problem.

Can you insert a header with a version string into the binary? So it will be easy to differentiate between the versions.

Thank you

Do we have an answer yet? I've got my a9lh.3dsx compiled and I'd love to start using it to my advantage..
Just put her payload on the root of the SD card. It'll boot automatically into emuNAND.

If you press L, it'll boot into sysNAND with the 10.x firm, press L and R and it'll boot into sysNAND with the 9.0 firm.

Both instances will have sig patches, so you can play/install your GBA games.

I think You have to get otp.bin first. Don't ask me how to do that. there is guide for otp goolge or search forum. you can find it soon. if you don't understand what you will do. don't do it.
the hax will brick your 3ds.

He's not asking for the OTP. before he had to hold A while booting reinand in order to play GBA-TWL games in sysnand, now he can't do that.

That happens to me too, if I don't hold A while booting I only get a black screen when I try to play gba games.

Okay, I'm kind of a moron so I just need to confirm......holding L while the 3DS is booting will load sysNAND with the firmware.bin in the "Rei" folder (whether it's 9.6/10.4 FIRM) correct? And holding L+R will boot sysNAND with the firmware90.bin inside the same folder (so basically like it's booting 9.2) correct?

Ahh, I've already got my OTP.bin! :D It took like 6 damn hours because my emuNAND just flat out refused to downgrade, but I did finally manage to get it

Yes, that is correct. That would allow you to use things such as Decrypt9 as well.

Ahh, excellent. I've been using rxTools for a while now so I'm just looking to get the same environment as that (except with arm9loader) tbh.
What exactly is the advantage of loading a different firmware when booting sysNAND anyway? And is a different firmware loaded with emuNAND too? Sorry for all the questions

excuse me man.

? Sorry, did I say something wrong? I apologize

emuNAND loads what ever FIRM you put. Whether it being 9.6, 10.2 or 10.4 (depending on whether you want NTR or not). The advantages to booting sysNAND with the 9.0 FIRM is that decrypt9 will work. Booting sysNAND with a newer firm will cause a few things to not work.

So, would that theoretically allow you to have badges on sysNAND, and does NTR not work with with 9.0 FIRM?

And, for some reason, my 3DS won't boot while holding L+R. It just hangs at a black screen even though my sysNAND is 9.2..

Thanks for the update @Aurora Wright

It's great to have sysnand & emunand bootable on arm9. Quick question for everyone, I copied over the rei-n3ds firms, then replaced the firmware90.bin with the one from the A9LH folder. This seems to have worked but just checking this is right? The rei-n3ds folder obviously came with a firmware90.bin by default.

I can't answer your first question. As for your issue, do you have menuhax installed? If so, make sure to delete it.

Also make sure you have all the correct AuReiNand files, along with the right payload.

I think you'd need to replace it anyways. (Make sure to rename "rei-n3ds" to just "rei".)

Yeah I done that. Rei-n3ds comes with a firmware90.bin file already, but it just seemed natural for me to replace that with the one in the A9LH folder. Couldn't see any other reason why there is an A9LH folder within firms.zip.

Either way everything is booting fine for me.
