So since my 3ds somehow got weird and I wanna send my smash replays to my friend, but It freezes somehow.
So I was wondering if this is possible, can we pull out just the replay data from smash?

If possible, can someone make the replay viewer on computer / Mac?

Sorry if this is in wrong thread :)

You do know replays are made up of button inputs right? It would be SUPER hard if not impossible to make a replay viewer, because first of all, what do you have to view?

Well, hypothetically couldn't you make a program that takes like a million screenshots? Homebrew launcher has the functionality, and even though it's slow you could probably utilize the idea in the same manner (so boot up smash, boot replay, enter a certain button combo that starts spamming screenshots, wait for two days and then turn all the images into a video).

Well dont you think it'll take quite a toll on the CPU? taking 60 pics a sec, it would make the game itself pretty slow and unplayable

Well, my hypothetical program is definitely straying into the realms of absurdness. A) It'd be a replay, so you wouldn't be playing. B) When you take a screenshot with Homebrew Launcher right now, it takes a picture of the left screen, takes a picture of the right screen, takes a picture of the bottom screen and then continues on. However, when it's taking these pictures, the entire game freezes / pauses, meaning you could just automate it to never stop taking screenshots every frame.

48 hours later and you'd maybe have a 4 minute Smash Bros. clip.

Edit: It would definitely be unplayable.

Maybe if 3DS emulation advances quick enough to the point where Smash is 100% playable, then maybe.
Double maybe.
