HTTPS Certificates?

I have been into web development as of late, so I was wondering where I could get TLS certificates for a web server. Where should I look and where does the temp get it's certificate?

although now there is a website that offers free certificates: https://letsencrypt.org/
I have not tried it yet but it seems to be mainstream
