Queno138, was the cia check fails like this?

yup, exactly like that.

If it fails like that, do not upgrade with that file.

Find another copy of the same file.

If it doesnt not pass the safesysupdater check, do not even try to downgrade,
else you're risking brick.

Do you happen to be trying to downgrade a JPN N3DS too? That's the exact same fail I got.

there will be multiple fails along the way, and It'll get pretty annoying

Can I use safesys to update my software to 10.3 too from 10.0 and afterwards use it to downgrade to 9.2?

Check the MD5 of the .rar file, and then check the MD5 after putting the files into the SD card, something must have went wrong with the data transfer. This occurs more if you're using a HDD and not a SSD. Never happened to me once on a SSD.

I recommend using TeraCopy to transfer the files, checking the MD5.

thanks mate i will try it and answer later if it works! ;)

Hi all,

Is there any link for a good idiot proof guide for downgrading, what a sys/emunand is? I'm totally green, everytime i read about linking, unlinking, system format, losing saves, re-installing all eshop content it makes me just scared to try. And the amount of chaos in the threads since the first wave of downgraders doesn't help.

Um... I'm stuck at:
"HAX SUCCESS !
init ->"

Edit: Restarted and retried! Go 9.2 :)

You won't need to focus on Sysnand and Emunand just yet, since you're only at downgrading stage.

You won't be able to create emunand, if you don't downgrade to 9.0 - 9.2

Downgrading:
1. Look for the files for your region.
2. Use safesysupdater to check those files.
3. Once above check if confirmed to be correct, proceed to downgrade.

To get to the stage whereby you can use safesysupdater, there are tons of guides out there.

Sysnand and Emunand:
They are terms coined to represent System Nand, and Emulated Nand, whereas nand is a sector/chip on your 3DS with up to 2Gb of memory, for storing various important things,
including the operating system and updated operating system of the 3DS.

Emunand is basically a copy of your sysnand, which involves the partitioning of your SD card, and emulating the nand off the SD card.

Once you reach the point where you created your emunand, you can use a different theme or folders to represent which is which,
and do a "system format" on your sysnand or emunand, depending which one it is you want to keep.

Also, at every point in time, back up your Sd card and your NANDs, so that you can restore it.

I used Menuhax and I renamed SafeSysUpdater.3dsx to boot.3dsx and put it on the root of my micro SD and then kept booting into it until it started downgrading my n3DS

New 3DS Hyrule Gold Edition US
original firmware: 9.9
updated to: 10.3
downgraded to 9.2

after 7x black screen, i turned wifi on, and the downgrade was made. thanks for your work!

I used both of these strategies(changing safesysupdater to boot and put it into the root of my sd card, then booting it up, turning on wifi and starting it) and it worked first try!

Hello again!

Thanks for the help. I found a solution. Its the sd card. With a Sandisk micro sd works fine. :)

Just an update about my failed downgrade from 9.6
I have a European 9.6 New 3ds XL that i successfully got menuhax installed along with sysupdater and safesysupdater.
I first tried to upgrade the system to 10.3 but after failing all the time i went ahead and tried a downgrade with safesysupdater.
I checked the MD5 first on the Zip and that was correct, i then did a validation of the CIA files from the safesysupdater and that passed 100%

So i went ahead with the downgrade, first it failed with a black screen, the next try after going into ftpbrony succeeded.
It went through all the cia files with a pass, then it started anew with status - Installed.
After 10 or so files passed with a green "installed" the screen went black and shortly after the Nintendo message "An error has occurred shut down the console" appeared

I thought i did everything correct but looks like something went wrong, could have been that i was on 9.6? i have read that it could cause soft bricks.
But i had also read that more than a few had downgraded ok from versions other then 10.3

Anyway, i had to upgrade to 10.5 to get it running again, i could not get it into the system menu or anything.
Just wanted you to know that it failed hard with the safesysupdater :)

Can anyone tell me why I've had to exchange 3 new3DS XL because everyone I try to downgrade it gets to a random point halfway through and says turn off the power and then it downgrades but i can't get in browser or settings and I have to update and can't downgrade anymore x.x isn't there a step I'm missing? It's a USA model.

N3DS Hyrule Edition
Original Firmware: 9.9U
Downgraded to 9.2U

Softbricked from first downgrade attempt. Console threw up Nintendo system error message part way through downgrade process. Was unable to access browser or System Settings afterwards. Purchased a copy of OoT, installed Hax using another console, ran downgrade again with SafeSysUpdater and it installed the files it was missing and is now on 9.2.0. :D Thanks for your hard work with this tool. ^o^

Am I able to use SafeSysUpdater to check upgrade files, rather than downgrade? I'm using a n3DS on 9.8, and want to update it to 10.3 before downgrading to 9.2 (maybe it's just superstition, but I've seen it suggested enough). I thought it would be nice to verify the upgrade files with SafeSysUpdater before going ahead with the upgrade, but the very first .cia file fails the check. The MD5 hash for the zip file I got from the iso site matches the hash they provide for it, so it should be good, but I'm still worried now.

Does the check just fail because SafeSysUpdater doesn't actually check for 10.3 upgrade files, but only checks for, like, downgrading to 9.2? If so, I'll try and go on ahead, but otherwise I want to make sure I have the right files. Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

I downgraded a 2DS down to 9.2.0 from 9.9.0 and an N3DS from 9.4.0 with no issues. I don't know the reasoning of upgrading to 10.3 first but the 10.3 O3DS I tried downgrading gave me huge issues just trying to start the downgrade as SafeSysUpdater kept freezing with several red/pink pixels on the bottom left hand side. Took me around 50 tries before it said Hax Success.

hi.

I performed the check and everything was good.

Now keeps freezing right after pressing Y. How many time do i have to reboot and trying before it works :hateit:

Edit : I just changed SD card and it passed. That might be a coincidence

Can someone clarify for me whether this still works on 10.5? I've seen people say it's been patched and others say they downgraded.
