Hacking Error Code 162-3006

I'm not asking for help on error code 162-3006, but something on vWii Homebrew. Every time I try to update, I get the error. I never actually use vWii's Homebrew, so I really don't need it. Is it possible that I can remove the softmod entirely and fix it up? Or am I stuck doing the whole Syscheck method just to fix it and installing the wad?
