Hacking FTP and CIA installs

Hi guys

Is it possible to install CIA files directly from ftp or network share on a PC?

I am sure I saw a post about it at some point while searching for something else. I didn't bookmark it and can't seem to find the post I was originally looking at.

Does anyone have info on this? Is it faster than locally installing from and to the same SD card?

I'm just being lazy about removing the case to take the card out. I have tried ftbrony and it's pretty slow with large files and then the time spent installing them.

Ah that's probably where I saw it! Do you know if it looks for a particular share or if it is something that can be configured?

I will need to have a look through the fbi documentation. I have just been using bigblue after the initial installation.

Btw, since I got the 3DS back from you I have carried out the region change and system transfer correctly! Thanks again

I recommend the SocketPunch Mod, but the way it works if you run it on your computer and press Y in FBI. You enter the IP of the 3ds into SPM and then it "punches" the CIAs to your 3DS. Speed varies, but far faster than transferring and then having to delete files of SD

I actually didn't know about this. I've been using FTP to transfer the file (or the SD card app) and deleting the CIA after installing it. This seems like a better option, and I'm assuming it won't leave behind a broken install if it fails along the way?

It will actually retry if it fails.
