Hello, sorry if this is in the wrong section. Is it possible to convert a ntsc-j new 3ds sysnand dump to a ntsc-u sysnand? I have had this console for quite a while now and havent used it much because I have a usa new 3ds xl and just want to know if its a emunand only type of conversion/hack.

That's impossible ; in the other hand , I think you can set up an emunand with a different region
that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure of that. Well, at least I can set up menuhax to auto boot to that emunand once i region change it.

No. They swapped some bit if hardware from an NA N3DSXL into the JP N3DS.
Ah, I know what your talking about now. Theres a certain chip that was desoldered and swapped. I remember seeing that video a while ago. Wish I had that kind of skill :hateit:

it's definitely possible and even easy but the eshop will never work which doesn't sound that bad but it's going to suck when you need a game update to play online.
it's basically an internetless console once region switched.

Exchanging motherboard simply changes the region.
Yes I know that. I just really don't want to drop $75+ on a motherboard for the third time. I've already had to do that with my US majoras mask edition twice. Once was because my system was banned permanently and the other was because one of those little clips broke from dropping it..

The thread I read about region changing the emunand said you'll only lose access to eshop but all other online functions will work. Besides, I have .cia of all my game updates and dlc all backed up for many reasons. Same goes for lovely precious save files.

Every 3rd I sell that's out of region to USA I swap the system nand to usa
How do you do that?

Why did you import a unit if you didn't want to use it "as-is"?

I imported one last year as well, from JP. With a flashcard, you can play any region games. With homebrew, you can play any region legal carts. With CIA, you can play JP region specific or region-free. Other than the lack of english in system dialog, there is no reason to slaughter your system and potentially breaking it by forcing it to run a different region's NAND.

Which is why I'm only region changing emunand once I get around to doing it. The worst that could happen with that is corrupting emunand and having to start over. I know not to mess with sysnand unless absolutely necessary. I really never planned to keep the imported unit after I got my xl, but I never got around to selling it. It was pretty much a impulse purchase haha. But hey, if I'm gonna hack it, might as well have some fun trying to region change my emunand.

Ya, but nobody confirmed you can do this. Everyone who responded is talking about hardware modifications to change the region on SYSNAND. If it was easy to "software change" your region on emunand, then there would be no need to modify your hardware. Since your emunand is a copy of your SYSNAND, you would need to hack your SYSNAND first (which requires hardware modification). It is the same reason you can't take an emunand from one system and use it on another. I would love to see that happen one day, but I don't think it will ever be possible. After all, your emunand is encrypted specific to your console's key. Even the injection methods don't address making your emunand "generic"
