In theory you could just keep installing new CVer/NVer on your sysNAND but it's always a risk since they could possibly change encryption on those and cause your 3DS to softbrick if it can't read them correctly (that's how I bricked my old Japanese N3DS XL, messing with CVer/NVer to try and get the browser to work on 8.1.0-0J, it's not easy). That's why I advised making NAND backups before messing with stuff like that.

For O3DS, anything from 2.6 and up should support 10.5 as far as I know. N3DS is 9.5 max.

If memory serves, the needed keys were released, so 10.X N3DS emuNAND should work. I have no idea if rxTools added support for it yet though...

Reinand and Cakes have supported it for 2 or 3 weeks now, but Rx is still lacking.

Nothing. It's only N3DS that is affected. You'll be okay updating.

What happens if they implement an update, that requires the 3ds to reboot before updating, wouldn't that be the doom of users not using coldboot? ><

Yeah anything that has online play gives the error. i tried monster hunter 4 and ff explorers retain carts and i get the same message. im on 10.3. tried HANS spoof with no success. Im glad im getting OoT for $20 from a friend so i can use that for homebrew. I dont like messing with the system menu on my n3ds.
But yeah it looks like it has begun.

EDIT:works just upgrade you EMUNand to the latest friend list works pokemon works and SSB should work has well.
