Minor PC issues, help?

So I recently built my new PC. It's certainly not "weak" (unless your one of those people who thinks i7 6700k and dual titan x is the only way to go). I have an FX 8320 (stock clock) + MSI GTX 960 + MSI 970A-G46 + 8GB Dual channel RAM.

I boot up my PC and sometimes the sound is a little out of sync. Not a big deal, just thought id say that. The logon sound is usually a second or two earlier than it gets displayed.

I usually have SketchUp, Chrome, Skype, and steam open. Sometimes, it will randomly freeze for 30 seconds up to two minutes. If I click during this time period, it won't say not responding, it will just process all my mouse clicks and keyboard inputs very quickly after it's done being froze. I haven't tried to pinpoint this down to anything, but I noticed @Costello is having an issue like this with skype. Could it be skype causing this issue?

Sometimes, when logging on, a window opens and flashes for a split second. I check processes and services and I recognize everything in processes and never bothered to thoroughly look at services. I did two full system scans and not a single virus has been found (ive never had any in the past with this PC, either, or downloaded any shady software)

Today when playing Black Ops III, the background on the map was flashing between the normal background and just a black space. When I put my scope over it, my scope turned black whenever the background turned black. Obviously this is a GPU issue, and restarting my PC might fix this, but why does it do this? (I was also getting around 45FPS when I usually got a constant 60)

Sometimes, Black Ops III will be run at around 40 FPS for no reason. Restarting my PC fixes this issue as well, but why? Does anyone else have this issue?

I have the most recent BIOS for my motherboard and drivers for everything as well.

Could be your hard drive being bad (do you have a 7200RPM drive?) though it could also be your processor. That processor isn't exactly great and might even be bottlenecking your video card.

It is an almost 4 year old processor and wasn't exactly top of the line when it came out.
It could be that something is faulty though..

Have you tried a format and reinstall?

EDIT: You haven't provided enough info for it to be possible for someone to help you.

The problem you describe would make me think of two things: Your PSU is failing (and making the GPU fail due to power starvation), or your GPU is failing because of overheating.
Could be anything else anyway.

Run gpu-z while black ops is running, chuck that log on pastebin, that'd be handy to start with.

Try a GPU stress test, sounds like it is faulty. Also, what is your PSU; that could lead to GPU problems aswell.

Yes, I have a 7200 RPM HDD.

My power supply was recommended by someone else on gbatemp:

You sure that's the right log? You're gpu went from 34% to 0%.
Something smells funny.Sometimes (seen this maybe 4 times) the nvidia driver bork on install and cause strange issues. Not convinced this is the problem but since I'm almost in bed it's a good thing to check.

Grab DDU from Guru3d, the display driver remover, that'll nuke every bit of the drivers you have, then reboot and reinstall, maybe even try a slightly older version (I'm still on pre 356.xx drivers, had some trouble with the newer game ready drivers).

Anyhow, PM me if you want and I'll be back and we can see if we can nut this out, QA on hardware"s pretty decent these days so I'm always more inclined to blame software issues, which are easily once you sniff them out.

Ok, the PSU *should* not be the problem there. Could you try moving the GPU to a different slot on the mobo on the off chance there is a problem with the PCIE lanes?

ody81, yes, it's the right log. I saw that too and was wondering. I opened gpu-z before BO III was running, and then while it was running i hit save log to file and got that.

@gudenaurock I stress tested my GPU. I checked the log to file but it didn't leave a log anywhere. I kept it running for 15 minutes and the max temperature was 68 degrees and max FPS was 66.

I was benchmarking at 1366x768 with no anti aliasing. The maximum gpu was 100% tdp.

I'm somewhat a noob at PCs. If you game for like 6 hours straight is that bad for the GPU or will it start to lag? And is 68 degrees hot? i keep it in my cold basement where i need a blanket and im considering getting gloves since I use a keyboard (which cant go under my blanket like a controller can).

For max temps check who makes the GPU, they should say. Using a GPU for 6 hours is not a problem, as long as the temperature is in check.

Max is 98 degrees. And i dont think its my PSU because it is stronger than recommended. plus im using amd which (i think) uses less power than intel. and my build shouldnt use more than like 350 watts at max everything according to pc part picker

I just bought the GPU a week before posting this message, so pretty much brand new. Everything is brand new (besides the RAM and HDD)

Might want to see if you can replace the GPU.
