Okay, my tries so far in case anyone was wondering.
1) Reformat n3ds (FW 10.1 U)
2) Use the QR code without internet to your browser--> yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php
3) Once thats put in, you should have only that tab open. You can close it and return to home page.
4) Go to wifi, set it up to your internet connection (but for me I'm a worry freak so I put in the incorrect password on purpose)
5) Go to your connection and edit settings under DNS.
  • Primary DNS 107.211.140.165
  • Secondary DNS 107.211.140.065
6) Now is the repetitive part...just keep entering browser and if it says the error message, cannot connect, just go back out to Home menu and try try again...
7) Eventually the loading screen glitched out and I was finally able to enter HB.
8) I scroll to the Menuhax manager, install it, hit A, then A again, then B to exit once its done. Reboot N3DS
9) Turn it on, hit top left corner of settings, hit Theme change. It'll load a few seconds with that square block then go into theme settings. Exit and turn off

Now I'm off to work but I'll try to come back and work on it some more tonight. Hopefully it all goes well and others can see it working here. I just find alot of posts were either too indepth and complicated for me to understand :P , or not enough info to know whether or not I can use what they did. That being said, this DS is new, bought but has tried to update before, so it does come up with the please update message. I also have never installed any hax onto the DS so this will be the first time.

Edit: Finally home. Followed these steps on this guy's youtube video and it seemed to work after...7 more tries? It even hung up at the sysupdater menu where it asks to press Y or A for downgrade or upgrade. But finally finished and...yay~ downgraded :)

Is a reformat required as I'm still getting the "the internet browser cannot be used at this time" error message.

I'm on n3ds 9.9.0 btw

Hey, I was having some trouble using browserhax on my 9.9 new 3ds, but when I used these DNS settings it worked for me on the first try:

primary: 198.91.88.237
secondary: 198.91.88.237

How did you do this I can't get it to load any time I try.

I changed the dns to:
primary: 198.91.88.237
secondary: 198.91.88.237

turn off wifi

-start browser and input the web address for webhax
-this will give the message stating the wifi is off
-reboot 3ds
-tap browser as soon as the 3ds turns on
-tap the button on the bottom right corner (three lines), should bring up the url & re load button
-tap the reload button
-exploit should start

Alright, time for an update.

I noticed a lot of worry about browserhax being blocked. It's partly true BUT, there is away to make it work.
I am running an n3dsxl 9.9 and here is what I found with some experiments.
If I load the browser AFTER,say, 20 seconds or so (after booting my n3ds) it gives me the update message.

As some of you have already read before, I said that some dns changes would save your
N3DS from the browser update message. Turns out I tried Google's DNS and browserhax still launched. Heck, I put my DNS settings to auto and browserhax STILL LOADED FINE!!

I am almost sure of my initial theory right now. It seems that the N3DS speed is KEY here. Yes. N3DS loads everything faster and this doesn't give Nintendo a chance to catch you.
So, my suggestion is that you load the browser as fast as you can. Maybe even install themhax as a backup plan if you have no payloads.
Also, if your internet is slow, browserhax will crash sometimes.
Some people say that they need DNS. Just in case you want it
107.211.140.165 as primary DNS
107.211.140.065 as secondary DNS
OR you can try Google's
008.008.008.008
008.008.004.004

PS: O3ds and 2DS users reported that this method is not working for them. Sorry to hear that...

I would rather just stay on 10.3 and spoof eShop :P

I can't seem to get this to work, trying on two different systems.

System 1: O3DS running version 9.9.0-26U. It did get the update nag, but I had a backup of the SD card from before, and used "Initialize Save Data", and now I get the message "The Internet browser cannot be used at this time. Please check your network environment or try again later." instead. DNS settings are set to use TubeHax.

System 2: O3DS running version 10.3.0-28U. Never got the update nag. Set the DNS to TubeHax, initialized the browser save data, still get the "cannot be used" message.

Neither the auto site nor the direct links are working. Both systems have the homebrew starter kit on their SD cards. Is there a step I'm missing?

This method does only work on New 3DS consoles.
Browserhax does work on Old 3DS, but the browser itself was somehow blocked. Browserhax was updated about an hour ago to work on 10.4, I just successfully got it working right now by updating to 10.4. Setting up System 1 (the one that was 9.9.0) right now, gonna work on System 2 once I'm done with that.

I meant the method the thread is all about. To run browserhaxx on consoles <=10.3 . No one in this thread want to update to 10.4 just for browserhaxx, i believe

You can't actually download anything with the eShop spoof. If you choose download now, then it will error you, If you choose download later, it will tell you to update your system. 10.4 is actually safe for homebrew, as long as you don't care about legit cias. You need the latest version of menuhax if you do that, though.

This worked for me tonight on brand new purchased 9.9.0-26U. Used direct link to http://yls8.mtheall.com/browserhax_fright.php

Probably spent an hour trying all manners of ways; the direct link is what set it off. Was using TubeHax DNS as well, not that I think that mattered any.
What DNS numbers where you using?
I think that matters with a 2DS and the browser check.
Thank you
