I've been interested in this game since it was announced and it definitely seems like something I'd really enjoy. I kind of want to try out the beta first though to see if I should buy it on the PC or PS4 (not sure about PC optimization).

Following the Rainbow Six Siege stuff ( http://gbatemp.net/review/tom-clancys-rainbow-six-siege.413/ ) and all the other things we have seen in their games it seems you are more optimistic when it comes to Ubisoft and online games. Granted you saying it like that makes me wonder if there is not a "pay to exp/win in the division: no way, no how" press statement out there somewhere and I am just being cynical,

I'm of the opinion that the rainbow six micro-transactions were a minor thing and some gamers (IE the reviewer in question) are just anal whenever they hear the phrase "micro-transaction". I mean you could basically get skins and exp boosters, nothing that effected the game at anything higher than mid-level play. (one could argue being able to unlock characters quickly gives an advantage in low level play so...). I mean it's not like hosting servers are free so ubi has to make money for upkeep costs somehow and I would rather they do cosmetic micro-transactions and FREE DLC as opposed to no micro-transactions and paid DLC

My guess is it will have micro-transactions but it won't be anything that gives an advantage (so weapon skins n stuff) or at worst it will be pay-to-accelerate.

I am opposed to all such difficulty changing transactions*. Obviously pay to win/finish the game a la all those delightful Asian MMOs are the worst and the R6 stuff is far more tame but the only such paid differences I am actually OK with are cosmetic, what I believe get called incomparables in computer games (basically a slightly different way to play or something that adds something but does not ultimately make it any easier/harder) or unlocks on or behind** the pareto frontier (it is a bit more involved but think same damage per second if damage per second is the main variable that counts). Some of those can be hard to do and maintain a kind of fairness, and I can tolerate someone coming up with some crazy combo that gives them an advantage.
Possible exception might be if you can have a lower level player on your team and not have them be a liability but I tend not to see this in this kind of squad based mission affair.

**no sensible game designer would do behind the frontier but it counts.

*some might say this clashes with my opinion that pokemon exp acceleration/legal generation is all good. I do not as there is basically no reflex activity or skill involved in pokemon training/breeding and I presume this would be.

I'm way more interested in this now, trailer looks great.
The initial showing however many years ago that was now saw me very interested, assuming they managed to pull it off. There was a fight in front of a police station that did well.
The second wave did not do wonders for me, though as it was mainly day/night and particle effects that were being deliberately shown off that is somewhat understandable. This last e3 with the short and sweet missions made me a bit apprehensive, though I am happy enough to write that off as needing short and sweet e3 fodder.
This current one has me more intellectually curious than desire to play it as a game. I have a feeling this could be a as a sequel or with the expansion packs type game, out of the gate I am less sure it will be something that sees me overcome my dislike of remote multiplayer.

LONDON, UK — January 28, 2016 — Today, Ubisoft revealed early details on the post-launch plans for Tom Clancy’s the Division including what players can expect in the Season Pass. As an online open world RPG, the game is designed to provide a max-level experience and keep players entertained after the main story arc is completed.

The development team has a complete post-launch plan to keep the experience fresh for all players, including several free updates, new features and functionality, as well as 3 major expansions to provide a renewed gameplay experience after launch.

The free updates to be released for all players will add new game modes such as challenging group-oriented operations to test players’ abilities in co-op mode and win unique rewards.

The three paid expansions are included in the Season Pass and will be released over the course of the year. Each expansion builds on The Division, continuing your agent’s journey and progress with new content, gear and gameplay as you fight to take back New York:

• Expansion I: Underground

This first major expansion opens a new territory to players as they explore the uncharted underworld of New York City with up to 3 friends for intense co-op action.

• Expansion II: Survival

In this expansion, the whole map turns into a Dark Zone for a hardcore multiplayer experience. Stay tuned for more information.

• Expansion III: Last Stand

Stay tuned for more information.

At launch, Season Pass owners will also unlock the exclusive sawn-off shotgun, a unique sidearm customized for short-range destruction. Season Pass owners also receive a set of exclusive outfits and weapon skins, as well as access to special monthly benefits including exclusive content drops and special events.

The Season Pass is included in the Gold Edition and Sleeper Agent Edition of the game. Players can also sign up for the beta program starting January 28th on Xbox One and January 29th on PlayStation 4 and PC now at www.thedivisiongame.com/beta.
