There's a slight problem on trying to restore my EmuNAND..

What guide did you use anyways?
pretty sure this wasn't correct, but the guide i used, said to add the .db to the sysnand folder of the 3ds after unlink. I got lazy with the .db stuff, so i copied the one i had in emunand.
I used the same guide. I did that as well, but before I restored emunand from my sysNAND backup.

sysNAND back up? was that sysNAND before you did everything with emuNAND and made the emuNAND partition right? I wouldn't call that sysNAND, but rather NAND since it was all 1 at that point.
Or did you use the sysNAND back up after the emuNAND partition and after unlinking?

Thanks a bunch! EmuNAND restored.
...I lost a few installed .CIAs, but that's alright.

Crisis adverted for now.
Lesson to be learned now, back up your EmuNAND every time you do something with .cia and especially firmware. You can be a bit riskier with the games, but not with the firmware.

uh, yeah sorry. After unlinking sysNAND and emuNAND, I did what you said you did and wrote my old NAND.bin (made before even formatting the SD card for the emuNAND partition) to emuNAND.

Can rxtools on n3ds install cias from other regions? is it region free already, or must i stick to US cias?

So I'm nearly ready to start modding my untouched N3DS XL on 9.6.0-24. All of the guides I have read deal with downgrading, CFW, etc. My question is... where exactly is the tutorial I should use to initially use/get menuhax installed? I can't very well downgrade & install CFW if I don't have an entrypoint. I currently have the latest starter pack on my microsd card. Where do I go from there? Do I need to use browserhax first, then menuhax? I'm completely confusigated about getting it initially ready to do everything else.

You should update to 10.3 if you intend on downgrading as more users had success downgrading from 10.3.
1. Menuhax
2. Downgrade
3. CFW

If that didn't work, no idea, sorry. Thought you had the same problem.
Unless you accidently overwrite the .nand when messing around with EmuNAND9 after unlinking.

's what I did on my 10.3. Im not sure if I'm allowed to link it, but google browserhax and you should find it as the first hit. Right above the QR code on that page is a link titled URL. Just type that in manually.

As i've asked, maybe four times now, did you regenerate your database files from the backup /dbs folders before or after you wrote NAND.bin to emuNAND?

Thanks. I'm confused about one step. it states:
5. Place the 3ds folder into your /3ds/ folder to add all of the included homebrews within the starter pack.

So there should be a 3ds folder inside of another 3ds folder? Or should there be only one 3ds folder?

./3ds/HOMEBREW FOLDERS HERE

There should not be a 3ds folder inside a 3ds folder.

Not sure what you mean by regenerate, noob myself at the database part.
If you mean going to System Settings, Data Management, Nintendo 3DS, Software, I'm not sure how to answer that since I originally fawked things up

1) Downgraded
2) Back everything up, including .NAND as trophy of success
3) followed that tutorial
4) Enjoyed a Cleaned EmuNAND and SysNAND, not realizing they EmuNAND should have been same as before
5) Got to System Settings, Data Management, Nintendo 3DS, Software before doing anything
6) Installed some CIAs
7) Upgraded EmuNAND to 9.5
8) Realized I fawked up, and could have keep everything before the EmuNAND stuff.
9) found the back up i made in step 2, and injected it with EmuNAND tool.
10) happy now with my original games that was installed before.

Yes, the System Settings -> Data Management -> Software thing

/when/ did you do that

So, I have a new 3ds and an old 3ds. I've downgraded my old 3ds, but my SD card is too small for emunand (so I'm waiting to buy a new one soon).

Anyhow, I have a few questions. Should I downgrade my n3ds? From what I understand, you can't have emunand to 10.3 on a n3ds. Will I be missing out on things that I can only do if I'm on 10.3?

Seeing as nintendo most likely will come with a firmware update sometime soon, I'd like to try and do the downgrade soon if it's what's, well, recommended I guess.

Also, how easy is it to transfer emunand and things from one SD card to another? I'll be getting a bigger microSD for my n3ds as well, so I'm wondering if I should go ahead and do all that stuff on it now, or wait for my new micro SD.
