I tried to load rxtools.3dsx but every time i launch it it keeps complaining the payload is at cakes.dat and complains that cakes.dat is missing. And this is from the link of rxtools you gave me.

Its quite odd. Why will the rxTools NinjHax loader be asking for Cakes files? Maybe some of the devs made a mistake with the ninjhax loader?


Edit: I used the Ninjhax loader from an older rxtools version and it works! Devs, please fix up your rxtools.3dsx loader to not load cakes files or merge the ninjhax loader from b63fd8f build with the latest because that does not ask for cakes must be an error with making the ninjhax loader from cakes sources.

rxTools does not work for me at all. I copy all the required files then it install the extra data successfully and then it crashes then any time i boot it the bottom screen stays black and the top screen still shows rxtools screen and does nothing. o3ds xl 9.2e downgraded from 10.3

How do I update RXTools to newest build? I followed below instructions but I'm still on 2.6.. My O3DS XL is on 4.4 btw..


I want to get my O3DS to 9.0-9.2 for cold boot menuhax..

Place:
1. the "rxtools" folder on the SD card root.
2. the "firm" folder inside of the "rxtools" folder. How to get it:
  • Run cdn_firm.py in the "Tools" folder. It will generate a firm folder in the same folder that cdn_firm.py is in. The firm folder must go into the rxTools folder like so: SD:/rxtools/firm

The delete the G@D D@MN rxtools.dat. You're still launching it instead of code.bin. If you're launching via .3dsx file, you didn't update it. If you're launching via browser, you're using the wrong link. If you're launching via MSET, you didn't reinstall the new the MSET exploit.

Get it?

try using ctrbootmanager. The MSET folder has both an .nds and a .bin file. ctrboot manager should be able to launch the .bin for you to update your MSET ROP. (I haven't actually tried that. But I will in a sec...)

Edit: No... that didn't actually work for me :(

Edit2: Wait... FBI has the ROP. Try using FBI. (Launch HBL via ctrbootmanager then FBI.3dsx)

If you don't want to install a .cia to sysnand, launch ctrbootmanager via browser, then launch HBL with it (rename HBL's boot.3dsx to boot_hb.3dsx), and use FBI.3dsx

Edit: Yup! Works like a champ! Just be sure you install the correct rop as there are several to choose from in FBI. You want to use "rxtools3.x 4.x"

Now... question for the masses, since it's getting to be a pain to find things in this super long thread. Has anyone already done the work of rebuilding an mSDManagement_US.cia to work through rxtools yet? The one I have only works through Gateway. @Apache Thunder ?

Can't find how to boot ctrbootmanager thru browser, just lazily installed FBI.cia and.. whoah! latest nightlies boot time are freakin' FAST compared to 2.6!!


Now to go to update my O3DS to 9.0-9.2..

Same links as any browserhax. They all try to load boot.3dsx. That's why you rename the HBL one to boot_hb.3dsx, and put the boot.3dsx for ctrbootmanager in the SD as well. It's really damn great because you can now set things up to auto-boot pretty much anything from HBL, to rxtools, to pretty much any .3dsx homebrew, Gateway launcher, or any kind of arm9.bin payload that you used to need brahma to boot.

edit: oh, and .dat files as well, I believe (like.. you can point it to the older rxtools.dat and I think that works as well :P

No... it's a POSSIBLE fix. Depends on the root cause, but the assumption is that it may be related to some code updated for Unicode characters. This build reverts that change.

I just hope you actually know what files you need (difers between o3ds and n3ds) and where to put them. And also, you need to update whatever method you are trying to launch. If it's through HBL, you'd better use the included ninjhax stuff (.3dsx and .sdmh file), if you're using MSET, you'd better use the included .nds or install the 3.x ROP using FBI. Or via browser (on o3ds) use the link that points to code.bin.
