I'll also be picking this one up. Just bought DStwo Plus just to play around with it and I have 3 consoles.

I consider Sky3ds in a bit different level.

I own an EUR N3DS, a JPN N3DS and an American one.

Sky3ds is the perfect solution to get Ninjhax on them. Just buying a JPN Cubic Ninja cart costs as much as a Sky3ds.

True but that kinda goes in flow with what I said before. Only solution for above 9.2, below average for 9.2 or below since CFW can at least as much and they're free. Since there's other means of booting CFW aside from CN and OoT nowadays, Sky3DS is only good as a CN replacement for above 9.2

Anyone see a reseller with Sky3DS+ stock?

Was checking out the China stores since i thought they might be the first to get it. But seems like none have stock. Even the existing Sky3ds seems to have been taken down. Guess January is a more likely time for more stock to show up.

Maybe you'll be able pre-patch your roms beforehand, tools like Gateway rom patcher would do it with no issue.

According to what I read on their website, they kinda still have a file that works similarly to the old template file though.

2.Download the newest gamelist.bin(like a template file used by the old sky3DS card, will keep it updated
constantly for new games later) from sky3DS.com,copy it into the root of your microSD card.

Because the new one doesn't use templates.

It does:

"2.Download the newest gamelist.bin(like a template file used by the old sky3DS card, will keep it updated
constantly for new games later) from sky3DS.com,copy it into the root of your microSD card"

Yay again for having to wait

Note: A settings.txt file and other .sav files will be built in your microSD card once start to play
games, open the settings.txt, set the CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS = 1(default 0, can change
it anytime later) and save it, a .CFG file will be created in your microSD card after a game has
been played, it includes the specific info for that game(CART_ID,FLASH_ID...), you can build
you own .CFG file for playing a new game(or an online game) later if you know how to get those
info properly, which means you don't have to wait for the updated gamelist.bin file by our site,
the .CFG file has a higher priority than a gamelist.bin file.

This is pretty cool, just drag and drop like the good old days without any software. I'm guessing this means no more template too, so no need to wait for Sky to update it after every new release.
Won't be needing this myself though, all my systems are already on 9.2 or below.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
