So I'm trying to install FBI as a CIA on my SysNAND so that when I make my EmuNAND its already there. I've done this before a bunch of times so I didn't think it would be an issue, but its not working and I have no idea why.

My usual process is this:

1 - Put HBL boot.3dsx on SD
2 - Put FBI HBL App and CIA file on SD
3 - Put PastaCFW HBL Loader on SD
4 - Use BrowserHax to boot HBL, run PastaCFW
5 - Use BrowserHax again to load HBL, run FBI
6 - Install FBI CIA

I've been trying to do this for hours. Everything works up to step 5, but when I try to install FBI.cia I get this

uwcyra.jpeg

As you can see, the error message isn't aligned properly for some reason. I have no idea what's going on.

I'm using:
- EUR New 3DS 9.0.0-20E
- Latest FBI
- Latest HBL
- The PastaCFW provided in this thread (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-install-a-cfw-on-a-9-0-9-2-n3ds-without-cn-oot.398394/) not sure which version number, but this worked for me a few days ago on the exact same setup.

Things I've tried:
- Formatting my SysNAND
- Formatting my micro SD
- Using a diffrent micro SD

What am I doing wrong?

I guess you have unlinked your nands. So you need to create the dbs folder with title.db again in your emunand. Go to system settings in your emunand the reset 3ds data. You will be able to install cia again.

i could be wrong but check if title.db and import.db is in your nintendo folder. the folder tjeu belong in is in the Nintendo 3DS folder, then some folders with a code (numbers and digits) then a folder with extdata. there should be a dbs folder. in the dbs folder should be title.db and import.db if they're not there then make them. then go to data management and have it fix the "corrupted" files. if they are there then leave them. and check the second folder in Nintendo 3DS folder

I don't even have EmuNAND set up at the moment. I'm trying to do this in SysNAND.

Then create a title.db if one does not exist and repair it in your system settings
You likely haven't installed anything from eShop or other locations before. You will need to go to the "Nintendo 3DS/<id0>/<id1>/dbs/" directory on your SD card and create empty "title.db" and "import.db" files. Then, go to System Settings -> Data Management -> Nintendo 3DS -> Software on your 3DS and let it repair the database files

So the folder structure should be:

Nintendo 3DS > *numbers and letters* > *more numbers and letters* > dbs > .db files ?

yup. incase you don't know how to make the files its just rightclick->new->file->rename to "title.db"->confirm the popup same for import

So I made a blank title.db and import.db, put them in the right folder and use the system settings to fix them. Now when I try to install, it starts the install (it didn't do that last time) but fails before it finishes and gives me an error like the one I posted in the OP, but with different info.

no that definitely works if you go to repair them in system management. and looks like it worked for OP as he's getting a different error now.

i can't find a lot of information about this. try it a few times (and rebooting fbi and 3ds can't hurt) make sure you're installing to the right spot. (L and R change the function and location of FBI) and you did run pastaCFW before using FBI right?

Rebooted FBI, HBL, 3DS, same problem.

so just to make sure. you boot up your 3ds use browserhax (?) then run pasta, run hbl again then use fbi and then try to install right? meanwhile i'm using my google-fu to see if i can find some explanation.
Yeah, thats my process. I know I could install menuhax but I'm not bothered right now, browserhax is quick enough.
