Gaming Will a Black New 3DS be released eventually in the US?

Its bad enough the rest of the world got both versions of the new 3DS while we were shoved down our throats with only the "superior" version of the system. Walmart currently has a sale going for the New 3DS and this is just the opportunity I've been waiting for since I didn't wanna pay full price for a system that isnt the color I want and with a digital game I prefer physical of.

Long Story short, should I get this because they may not make anymore new 3DS systems or do you think a black new 3DS will eventually release before the end of this gen?

New colours usually spill out down the road, going with the history of the DS and 3DS life spans. I would wait for a colour you want instead of making a hefty purchase that you genuinely dislike the colour of.

Actually, I bought a New 3DS XL with a color I dislike (or maybe that's because I dislike every available color for that model...) and I'm still happy with it (or maybe that's because it came with 9.0), so yeah, I agree that it's a lot better if you can get the model you want, but in the end you only end up looking at the screens when playing so you don't care that much.

Eh, it depends on the person. Some people care about the colour of major purchases. It's like buying a new car, although not to that big of a scale; with an investment like that, you probably want colour to be of consideration.

True. I also forgot to mention that I already had a 3DS XL in the color I wanted before that New 3DS XL, so that might also be a reason why I didn't care that much about the color of the new one...

If you really are desperate you could buy it and do (or get someone to do it for you) a shell replacement but either way eventually it will come out.

Ugh I hate my N3ds xl so much, but NOA was SO insistent that there wasn't a place for the regular size in the US market and now i have to hurt my hands to play more than 20 minutes for no damn good reason.

I do feel terrible that they essentially forced people to buy an XL with months of no news of the standard coming and that statement they made. However you did make the choice and at some point felt it was worth it. I however was adamant in getting a standard new 3DS or just wait till the next gen handheld, at least with this topic I'm trying to gauge if this Animal Crossing one is gonna be it or not. Maybe they released this and only this to shut up the minority of people that wanted the standard size. With Nintendo you really cant predict what they will do next which is both exciting and scary (sometimes frustrating) at the same time.

Mainly frustrating in recent years. They could have easily provided an option instead of forcing it upon people. It just adds to the onslaught of disappointment Nintendo has made as of late.

Well I figured Xenoblade was only the tip of the iceberg, but here they are promoting Non-new XLs for christmas, so who knows if they'll do any more exclusives...

What are you talking about? Nothing new has been released at all which is surprising since this is usually the time new bundles come out.

The only new bundle that came out recently was that Splatoon/Super Smash Bros one which is understandable since Wii U needs the help a lot more than 3DS right now.

Also think back to the DSi, aside from an exclusive store (which was awesome for its time) there were like 5 exclusive games or so you can count off your hand and I believe only 3 were in the US only. On top of that there were games with DSi only features which honestly were not that great such as voice chatting in Pokemon Black/White or extra items in Fire Emblem.

I don't expect much in terms of exclusive content from the New 3DS, possibly the same amount the DSi or even less. I was perfectly set on either getting the standard size or simply waiting for the next gen handheld. I'll just continue to wait hoping for a black new 3DS, preferably non bundled too cause I don't need digital shoved in my face.

When I said nothing new has been released I'm referring to the New 3DS. That is what this topic is about.

Its the whole reason I have this topic in the first place, I dont know if they will release anymore and this is it.

No shit. Not only are they not releasing any new NEW 3DS bundles, they are regressing to promoting their OLD model with a new bundle for Christmas.

You have to see from their point of view though.

Would you invest into real estate in a crime ridden neighborhood or sell hot chocolate in the middle of the summer, these things are not economically feasible and Nintendo or at least NoA decided this was not a profitable decision.

However this is also the first time in Nintendo history where they've decided to discontinue a hardware before the generation is even over. That contributes to the low sale numbers for the original size as it didn't have a chance to continue growing and thus they felt XL was the only one worth having.

They could of chosen a win/win solution and simply made it a limited print run similar to what Europe did with Fatal Frame 5. For some reason Nintendo also had very little faith in that game being successful just like the Standard new 3DS.

I don't think it's a promotion more than a simple inventory clearance. These are 8.1 systems which means they were manufactured in 2014, so they're likely just trying to clear old stock.

Another likely reason to focus on the old 3ds is they can sell them for less than the new 3ds which works better for black friday sales.

To address the thread topic, I would bet against a black n3ds just because the AC bundle didn't exactly fly off shelves it seems.

They're easy to find on Amazon although a little pricey. (to say the least)
