Gaming DS lite upper screen problem

Everything was fine when I last played on my Ds lite an hour ago . Then now when I open it the upper screen seems to be fine until just before the hinges click in place where the upper screen colors became washed out with some white areas and lines but when I just close the upper screen lid a bit the screen return normal and everything seems to be fine . I didn't drop it or spill anything on it . It's all happened suddenly.
Can anyone help me ?

Great . Now after I have opened it and check the ribbon connection with lower unit there was no problem however I released the ribbon cable and cleaned the connector and then put everything back together . Now the upper screen is white and nothing displayed on it.

Perhaps just material fatigue on the flex cable, it must have been broken and barely making electrical contact. Replace it.

Can it be broken even if everything looks fine in the cable and no cutting or damaging appears by the naked eye?

Yes, it may look alright but still be broken. You could try to test for continuity using a continuity tester and you will get your definitive answer. But it may be quite a hassle to do that with the small flex cable contacts.
