Hacking trails in the sky 3rd chapter

Hello everyone I was wondering how hard it would be to hack 3rd chapter? If not the script what about items? Thanks for your help. I see that zero and ao are getting a translation, but not this one. I know this game is usually overlooked, but it is an important part of the whole story. I don't mind just doing an items patch for it if I can get some help to Crack it.

It really isn't that hard to work with. But an items only patch really isn't worth it and I won't say more than that. Just waiting on official word of whether or not Xseed is gonna pursue it or not. Don't want to step on somebody else's toes.

Yeah, these games are really played for the story and the flavor, there's really not much point in an items patch.
Of course you might be able to play through the game with it, but you'd miss the entire point of the game.

And then there's the official SC release around the corner, they're probably not looking for competition in potential future material.

I would gladly do the game script too if possible. This one is my favorite out of all of them. But I'll leave it alone then.

Oh please do please start translating it first start with the minor stuff first menus items and home menu

XSEED did state they could do The 3rd if TitS SC sold well. I really do think the best you guys could do is just go and buy SC. Then once that's done you'll be able to trap XSEED and make them have to do Zero and Ao since The 3rd spawns questions related to those two!

But what I'm truly trying to say is "Don't do anything for now." It's better to wait until you know XSEED definitely won't announce The 3rd. It would be better if they did, but yeah. If they don't, we'll have to do things (you'll have to... I'm not a translator :v) the user/fan way.

sure you can translate it even now but my suggestion is just wait 1-2 years to release it publicly to community "if" there are still no translation news around those years from XSEED then go full steam ahead
i think any translation project(fans/company)are good for fans

I heard that SC sold terribly on Steam though. What do you guys think about the 3rd chance of coming west via XSEED?

It's easy to say that "someone just do it" but if part 3 is remotely as long as 2, it could take many years for a small team working part time to translate the entire script if you wanted to do it properly.
And that's not even counting other things such as bugs, typesetting and so on.

Well I can translate. I have already taken a look at the iso and have some guess as to where some stuff is stored. If anyone is interested in starting, at least we can have some of it done whatever xseed decides, and at this rate we might be able to publish it if we ever finish. Really I just want more practice at rom hacking. I am having a blast with exxiv.

I want to say "Go ahead! Do it now! I really want The 3rd translated!" but we can't just do that.

I'm sure XSEED is pretty light and cool when it comes to things like this, but it can mess with them if it so happens that they want to do The 3rd.

If you want to do a bit of The 3rd though, then that's cool and in case things go grim with The 3rd, then that might actually help a lot ;D

It might have sold bad on Steam, but we have GOG and PSN to also look at for sales.

And in the interview it mentions they wouldn't care giving the work of The 3rd to "other publishers". We're not publishers, and we're certainly not ones who would monetize the game, but as it stands, what XSEED is saying is they won't exactly support fan-translations, most probably because Falcom might not want it. Do I have to say already that Falcom allows XSEED to translate the games because they want some income out of it?

If anything, for us Kiseki fans the true light would be for Falcom to recognize english players and go all "English players want us! We must make someone publish these in english!". <---Pretty much like Namco Bandai at the moment.

For now, I would just advise to recommend FC and SC as much as you can so that it sells well and XSEED decides to do The 3rd. If that doesn't happen, then we'll be able to decide by ourselves what to do with The 3rd at that time.

By the time they are done with translating/programming things it will take them years (2-3 years at the earliest) XSEED would have announced it already what they will be doing with the 3rd. If there are no announcement during that time i guess it would be safe to say that they are no going to localize the 3rd. Still this is just my personal opinion.

Btw Tom had said that XSEED will wait for months before deciding the 3rd and LoH fate. They already anticipating Steam bad first weeks sales as it seems.

Well, kaikaiser said he mostly wanted to learn by doing these things so I guess it doesn't hurt. In fact, I support it since having more people on the Kiseki translation train is better.

The thing I'm most concerned about is people not joining the translation because they might not feel like wasting their work if XSEED decides to translate The 3rd. And I can see and relate to this even though I don't translate, it will feel horrible even if them deciding on localizing it is a good thing.

One or two people doing this would be quite a lot of work from what I feel... not that I would know better than other people here of course.

Yeah, we also have to think about it this way: They couldn't have released TitS SC at a worst time. Just in the middle of sales, people were focused on other things, mainly getting games at a cheap price, not buying a sequel at full price.

I do value everyone's option here as well as exeeds. It was just a though, but I think I will just wait on doing anything on it for a while and maybe focus on another project instead. So thanks for all of your impute. I do hope they translate 3rd, this is still my favorite out of the entire series and it would be nice if everyone could enjoy it.
