Hacking Failing to use OOT exploit on N3ds

So im trying to do the OOT exploit on my new 9.0.0-20U (usa region), i tried with 2 different OOT games, one was launch version, other more recent(could notice by the serial on the cartridge), neither with the gateway save or the one provided here could i be successful with the exploit, i just get the save data corrupted

now what is unusual? the guys helping me with the save restore has a new 3ds JAP region, im using latest gateway launcher file and all, after trying with 2 different versions of the OOT cartridge i dont know why it isnt working, any guess? does this even work doing the save injection with a N3ds or does it has to be an old 3ds?

yep, game is USA region, tried with the one provided by the gateway files and the patched one from this board, i believe the gateway one didnt even inject into the cartridge(showed an error and didnt work) only the patched one and some other the guy helping me had, so something seems off.

is the exploit designed for the region of the game or the console aswell? because when he tried to test it on his jap N3ds same thing happened(save corrupted and it erases it)

N3DS does work, I did it myself with a N3DS.

The reason the say that is because they're not expecting you to have an N3DS if you're using that tutorial, and it is supposed to work. Try removing the save file from the cartridge before patching the save to the cartridge by holding A B X and Y when starting the game.

N3DS does work, I did it myself with a N3DS.

i see, so im clueless, the guy helping me with his jap N3ds did it with an USA 3ds, so supposedly region doesnt affect this, and even if my game may not be compatible with the exploit i tried with a different one newer version, and the patch save file provided by Sonic2756 wich reports says it makes most if not all games to work didnt work on either of them.

my console is in an usable FW and all

You need :
- A 9.0-9.2 n3ds obviously
- The latest gateway firmware. (you can find it on their site)
- The 2.5 HBL boot.3dsx : https://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/boot.3dsx
- The latest ninjhax version of FBI : https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-fbi-open-source-cia-installer.386433/
- A cia version of FBI (Comes with download above)
- Aa cia version of Cubic Ninja from your region (can't provide this, but google is your friend)
- An Internet connection
- PastaCFW files : http://jheberg.net/captcha/pastacfw-for-ninjhax2-90-92/

1. Copy the boot.3dsx on your micro-sd card root
2. Copy the "3ds" folder from FBI on to your micro-sd card root.
3. Copy the PastaCFW folder in the 3ds folder.
4. Copy the cia files on to your micro-sd card.
5. Setup Browserhax : https://gbatemp.net/threads/yellows8s-browserhax-thread.398132/
6. Launch the HBL with browserhax.
7. Choose the PastaCFW
8. Once you're back in the menu, immediatly start the HBL again
9. This time, choose FBI.
10. Use FBI to install the FBI cia
11. Put the gateway's launcher.dat on your micro-sd card root.
12. Boot into the Cakes/Pasta CFW.
13. Start FBI and install Cubic Ninja.
14. Start CUBIC NINJA, choose "Create", then "QR code", and finally "Scan QR code".
15. On your PC, go to the GATEWAY ULTRA 3.X/Save Games for New 3DS/Cubic/your_region folder and scan the QR code.

This should load the Gateway menu on your N3DS. I had to use this method because I didn't have an exploited console at hand to put the save on OOT3D.

After I did this, I used the Gateway menu to install the modded save on my OOT cart, then I cleared all the stuff off my N3DS (the CIAs, Browserhax, Homebrew menu etc) and just used the method on the .pdf I linked to install using the OOT save file.

thanks, i had seen that method, but i was trying not to mess too much with my console, so wanted the easy method, ill try it as a last resource, im getting in contact with someone with a sky, or a friend who was going to help me but he lives far from me so i didnt wanted to spend like $12 just to let him try do it

i havent heard about "removing the save file from the cartridge", what exactly does happen here? just making sure because im kind of playing OOT as i been waiting over 3 weeks to use the gateway i bought.

You can backup your save with standard homebrew. Use an app called svdt. The gateway exploit would have deleted all your saves anyway, it says so on the guide.

yep i kind of have it working now with the HBL/CFW method, and i dont really need the OOT anymore since you isntall the cubic ninja to launch the gateway launcher, then DS profile exploit for less hassle

doing a 2nd backup of my nand currently, then ill install the DS profile exploit

so thanks for the help, ill still atempt to use the OOT method just to check if it would work if my console does the save switch.

i didnt saw any devmenu file, says you need to get it on your own like most places.

im using the Bigbluemenu like most people do.
