Hi guys, last time I got a flashcard was for my dslite, it was the supercard, superkey bundle thing.

Been reading a while and was wondering if the the DSTwo Plus was actually more than a rumor? I know supposedly a mod on this site said it really does exist and some sites have confirmed its production, but seems that's been the news since February- any updates? I read now it's supposed to be coming out May 18th?

If not, would you guys recommend the Sky3ds? I'm not really looking into homebrew too much since the dslite supercard has me covered on that.

The Sky3DS seems cool, but the development team from what I've read seems super shady and worry they'll just bail the minute Nintendo releases some sort of patch or new sdk to fudge up playback of newer games or even older games.

The Gateway team seems a bit more willing (and able) to patch new things and on the ball, even if it requires all sorts of exploits and run arounds, but even then sort of hesitant because of how unstable it seems. This is probably a good thing though because it means they can adjust to whatever Nintendo throws at them as opposed to Sky3ds which would probably get bricked after nintendo figures out their hack.

As for preference, I don't really care for online play- it'd be nice but not a big deal- Nintendo deactivates the servers like a year after releasing the game anyway, and for ones I really like (sm4sh) I buy them anyway. I mainly use my ds in short 10 minute bursts when I take a break from work. I would be using this just to play dumb AA titles when I get bored of the good ones.

Any insights? Thanks

I've been hearing about the DSTwo Plus, but I've not found anything official from the Supercard website. Until I see anything there, I'm going to remain skeptical.

The Sky3DS doesn't use any exploit that can be patched. It emulates the actual cartridge fully, only using a hardware button to switch between roms. As such, because it doesn't have a menu or custom rom to load before the games, the 3DS sees the game loaded directly. It can't see it as anything else. Only the rom and it's signature from Nintendo.

The Gateway is a great card for things like homebrew or custom roms, but because it requires an exploit to run, unlike Sky3DS, it can't be played on system menus above 9.2 because there aren't any successful exploits yet. Gateway on it's own is a custom loader that doesn't have a signature from Nintendo. If they could get a signature, then they could theoretically bypass all the restrictions that prevent homebrew developers from running their code.

So basically, Gateway is great for those who have 9.2 or older firmwares and want to run custom code, Sky3DS is for those who just to play games, and DStwo Plus is just a rumor that not even the official Supercard Team has confirmed to exist, yet. Go with the first two for now, depending on what firmware you have right now.

Both Gateway and Sky3DS suffer the Nintendo banhammer regarding each update: when Nintendo release an update, Gateway and Sky3DS could be blocked FOREVER.

As far as we know, Sky3DS can be blocked but somehow Nintendo didn't done anything to block it (until now) and seems to be working as every other original cartridge although some particulars are different (such as disk writing/reading speed).
Gateway instead is based on exploits found on the 3DS system and pretty much every update seems to break it until developers release an update that usually takes months or eventually being never released (making the card useless). Also, Gateway works only with (N)3DS that are firmware <=9.2 (Sky3DS works with every firmwares until now).

Regarding DsTwo+, I won't give any opinion on something that we will never see on Earth.
IMHO Sky3DS is easier and will probably resist the Nintendo's banhammer for some updates, although it's more expensive than Gateway (that works only on <=9.2) and requires a powersaves to dump a private to header in order to play online, but if you don't mind you can just play offline. Personally I can't understand people who gives faith in a hackers team that struggle on every update to make things works. Finally, keep in mind that those are devices that Nintendo does not support in any way and could be useless one day to another.

yeah, was reading the whole cia thing and sounds like it could start to get interesting for Gateway putting these channels on the 3ds (like wads rights?) for different 3ds games, gba games, etc, but yeah, I lately don't have much time to mess around with all that fun stuff and if I did, I'd probably go ninjhax- that looks like a lot of fun.

Will probably do sky3ds for now especially if the Supercard team hasn't even confirmed it dstwo+. Thanks!

[edit]

hm, might wait a bit- kinda like the supercard team

Yeah, which makes me hesitant on getting flashcard at all. It's been like four years now and still seems no team can really figure out the 3ds?

Thanks all

This is the main reason I always recommend GW, Sky3DS isn't patched yet but once it is everyone using it will be screwed, and as we already know, the cart isn't updatable, since they released a new cart within weeks of the original cart just to remove the 10 game limit.
There are new threads about Sky3DS problems nearly every day, the build quality is awful on it and there are people complaining about their cart not working or having issues with it nearly every day.

People always say Sky3DS is easier to use, and when it works correctly, it might be. With GW you have the one time setup that takes a little time, formatting emunand, updating, and so on. The only thing you have to do after that is launch GW mode through an exploit, which is really simple on o3DS with 4.x or on n3DS with the old mset installed. But you can copy roms directly onto the memory card without patching and without using a specific program to copy them, that alone makes GW better in my opinion.

Not to mention all the extra features GW offers. :)

So you all know i purchased a few Supercard DS2 carts a few months ago and read that the newer carts are actually DS2+.
I installed EOS v1.14 and also gw installer and yes the 3ds games work fine.
The only issue i see atm is no online play.
Smash Bros works fine online with Gateway but will not work online with Supercard DS2+.

Did you remember to rename it .3dz instead of .3ds (if it is your own dump) or inject a header and call it .3dz (if downloaded)?

I just tried a Supercard DS2+ with both Mario Kart 7 and Super Smash Bros Brawl latest emunand and they both DO NOT work online. The same file works perfectly using Gateway. Very embarrassing for Supercard.

Everyone needs to know before they buy if it is not working 100%.
If there is 3 different threads about the same issue then each thread needs the same information.

Don't be an asshole like you're the town crier. Rxtools isn't 100% compatible either and I don't see you crying in every rx thread. Keep your vendetta to yourself, you don't need to pollute every thread that mentions the dstwo.
