Hey guys,

So I managed to get savedatafiler installed onto the homescreen. However I cannot locate the dumped save file, so I can move it to the US version. Here is what I am doing.

- I boot the savedatafiler from the homescreen.
- I went to the website http://3ds.essh.co/ to get the ID for the game to locate the save (000400000011C500).
- I locate a save file ending in 11C5
- It lists 'verification failure' while it dumps the file in the SD card.
- In the SD card I then find a folder called 'filer.'
- There are two folders inside ExtData and ExtDataBoss, and they only contain empty folders, except for .log files and a couple .dat files.
- Regardless, nothing in this folder loads in PKHeX.

I'm doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what.

Thanks guys!

I assume it's pkmn, select game from the gateway menu so it's loaded in your slot. Open savedatafiler, select Crt card on the main screen when savedatafiler opens, and press Y to export to SD card. Then you'll find it in the filer folder. If you just want to switch the save to a different region (ex. Jpn to us) load the US Rom from the gateway menu and open savedatafiler, then move to the SD tab and select your exported save, and press L+A to import to your Pokémon rom. You need to have savedatafiler installed as a cia to do this.

Thank you guys all so much for replying!

Well you can only replace save files from the same region.

Well using this program you should be able to replace it.

Did you even extract the user data with savadatafiler?

Extract the user data? I went to savedatafiler, then selected the save file that was marked 000011C5 and extracted it to the SD card. However, the folder 'filer' doesn't have anything in it, aside from log files and a couple data files.

I assume it's pkmn, select game from the gateway menu so it's loaded in your slot. Open savedatafiler, select Crt card on the main screen when savedatafiler opens, and press Y to export to SD card. Awesome post!

Now this is interesting, it lists the CTR Card, but then it says -- broken --

It also says that for a few other files below it.

I also tried the method you suggested, but after selecting the save I exported and pressing L+A, it loads it. But when I load the ROM, it doesn't seem to have done anything and starts a new game.

In other words, for some reason it isn't exporting the save file properly.

Do you know what the issue could be?

I used this guide here: https://translate.google.com/transl...afiler-decrypter-et-modifier-ses-sauvegardes/

Only reason I can think of is; 1. The rom has no save data, hence it's --broken-- (empty) 2. You didn't load the rom before opening SaveDataFiler.

You said it wants to start a new game when you open load the rom? That's a clear sign it has no save data.

You know what, you were right, I missed a step.

But its very strange, it will let me do as you mentioned, but why wouldn't it load in the hex editor? What I mean is that it loaded the CTR card file, but why didn't it load the raw save file export?

No idea. Well, If nothing was exported (If you forgot to load the rom before opening SDF) it would only create the folder, but no data in it since nothing was exported. When you try to import the save again, nothing is imported since it finds no data. I guess they just needed a quick tool to export saves, no extra features or anything (like prompts telling you nothing was exported/imported) :P
Hex editor?
Edit: Ah, google translation. They mean you need a hex editor/PKHeX to edit the file "main" that's extracted when you export save.
You'd have to transfer it from your sdcard to your computer to edit it.

Thanks so much for all your help!

I still don't know the root problem, but I did manage to import and move the save.

I'll eventually find a way to figure it out. Again thanks a ton for helping so much you're awesome!

Hello i have a problem with savedatafiler: i have cia version installed, i load resident evl the mercenaries 3d from gw menu, then launch savedatafiler, but say me CTR Card - broken (i've just run the game once before and save the game one time to make save file), what im wrong? Mercs 3D its surely card2 type because i had original cartridge, and i launch game without SD inserted and game load save normally...

I'm not sure if you're confused or what.

Most, if not all 3DS retail carts don't save their save data onto the 3DS SD card.

Difference is, Card1 type has their own "external EEPROM" to save data.
These games can have their saves backed up by R4i dongle.

Card2 saves into the rom itself.

For better understanding:

Anyhow,
Given that the game runs in GW mode, and when selected by red card, inside savedatafiler it shows broken,
it's card1.

Sorry to 'kinda necro this thread, but I'm having an issue I'd like resolved, if anyone could help :(

I'm using savedatafiler.3ds and my Smash Bros EU (00EE0) says -- broken -- on savedatafiler. What gives? What can I do to fix this? The game is saving fine :( I just want to back it up.

Edit: Oh wait, maybe that's the update for the game, I have another working 00EE0.

I don't know if you have your issue sorted out but yesterday i started converting my collection or originals to CIA and wanted my original gamesave to be used on it. What i did was:
1. Convert the game to CIA, don't change Card1/Card2 leave it as card 1.
2. Play the game and let it save as it does as you load the game for the first time.
3. Exit the game and go back to the home menu.
4. Use Savefiler to extract the save from the User Tab, My Id was "0038B" extract it to SD Card
5. Extract the Gamesave from your Official Retail card.
6. Load the retail gamesave into 3dsExplorer by my good friend Eli Sherer
7. When the gamesave has loaded, in the left pane you will see the breakdown of the gamesave, you are only interested in the main content "MER_SAVE.dat" Extract that File.
8. Once you have extracted the file from your original gamesave, Put your 3ds SDcard into your PC and navigate into your savefiler directory and replace the MER_SAVE.dat with the one you just extracted from your card.
9. Put the SD card back in your 3DS and load up Savefiler
10. Go to the SD tab on the right and find your RE-Merc game, mine was called 0000038b and simply press "A" to import the user save data.
11. Open up your game and you should now have your original gamesave working on your digital copy of the Game.
12. Store your Game cartridge somewhere for safe keeping and for Legal reasons.

One piece of info that will be quite handy, you can change the content in the MER_SAVE.dat file if you know what you're looking for, i've mapped most of the gamesave so i can change most of what i want, then you use savefiler to put it back into the system it rebuilds CRCs so it's handy to mod your save if you feel the need to.

Hope this helps you or someone who is in the same boat.

I'll just pass on this " Limit " of saves people claim that GW has. My " Limit " should be my SD card size. And retail copies not possible to backup? Done it multiple times.
code of Princess save was taken off the card. Anyways, I'm not going to explain my issue too much, but here:

1: CTR Card --Broken--
Level : -7
Sum : 5
MOD : 17
Desc : 341.

2: No saves exist on the SD card.
I believe deleting the Filer folder tells otherwise.

3: I am not searching my game ID just to be told " You need to find this number, search your SD Car-- no. The Saves are in the Filer folder. I deleted it; no saves exist. Why am I still seeing this " CTR Card broken? You have any idea how many files are on my SD card? Even if they were stored somewhere else, it'd be impossible to find a single save. Sorry if any of the above came out rude; my IED made me nearly chuck my laptop into a lake.

Holy fuck, I wish someone throw you into a lake.

This thread was made almost a year ago. At the time this thread was active there's was no way to use SaveDataFiler with retail cards.

Everything aside from what I quoted above is unintelligible and left me confused.

What are you trying to achieve exactly?
