I was dumping my AS Pokemon game and after waiting for several hours for it to finish extracting the romfs it came back with an error, asking if my SD card is too full.

How do I fix this? What can I remove from my SD card to give it more space?

Just delete some games in there. Those are what use the more space. If you bought it in the eShop, you can simply re-download them later.

However, if your SD size is the problem, you would need to get a bigger one.

I have a 4 GB SD card, and I just deleted a ton of pictures and videos that I don't need so I'm hoping that freed up space. I've already deleted demos that can no longer be played so that's why I made this thread. I'm not sure what else to delete.

Pokémon is a huge game. I'm not sure if you'll be able to backup it right in a 4 GB SD card. Couldn't you get an 8 GB one? That would solve the problem for now.

And, using HANS with the new 2.5 hax, you can bypass the limit for demos, being able to play them indefinitely, even if they have "0" uses left.

Oh, I know that, but I deleted my demos before I even knew about HANS. XD

Oh really? Well that sucks. Do you know of any other games I can dump then?

Right now you could try dumping Mario Kart, A Link Between Worlds or Majora's Mask. Those don't have as many tutorials as Pokémon editing, but there are some threads which talk about their editing. And they use less space than Pokémon.

Also, you could try dumping NES / GB / GBC VC games and inject different ROMS in them through HANS.

What about Smash? Or is that too big? The only games I have out of that list are Mario Kart and A Link Between Worlds and idk where my Mario Kart game card is, unfortunately.

It's kind of big, it uses around 2 GB with updates and so. But if you dump the original version, it will use around 1.5 GB in your SD card. You could try giving it a try after cleaning enough space.

Okay, I'll try that. How would I dump the original version without the updates though? Do I just delete them from system settings?

No, you don't need to delete them. I'm not completely sure, but it seems the game gets dumped without updates, even if you have them installed. No need to erase them.

Sad part about loading edited romfs for Smash is that you need to load it in version 1.0, and if you have a save done in a higer smash version, it must be deleted for you to start the game.

If you're not interested in loading an edited romfs, but only want to explore the contents of the game, then it's alright

So basically I need to delete my save file in order to use edited romfs? :/ That sucks!! -.- Well, what about Tomodachi Life? Is there a rom hack or a way to create a rom hack for the game?

you need to decrypt the romfs
You can try to add the exefs from the updates to the romfs so you load a fully updated Smash from HANS, but that's really hard. I tried myself, and I coudn't get anything to work. You could check comments on the thread about custom music on Smash.

@Damon_girl About Tomodachi Life, I've not seen any thread about it. I don't have the game, so I can't try it myself, sorry about that. If it doesn't have any update, you're okay to do it. If it has updates, well, it could get the same issue as Smash when trying to load it through HANS. Sorry, cannot really help with it. Let's hope HANS gets new releases with this problem fixed.

No. I read about some method to put the update inside romfs so the game starts as if it loaded the updates. But it was more an idea based on using something similar to NTR's CFW layeredFS plugin.

So, no, there's no way of doing that right now. You need to wait to either an updated HANS version or a release from someone else for including updates inside romfs.

That works if you have a 1.0 version save in your cartridge. Having saved with an update in another console, would prompt you to install the needed updates, since HANS doesn't find them.
