Sorry guys i Got a question. Does romhacking mean you can load roms with the 3ds OR hack them with the 3ds? OR is it something else?
Sorry i really dont understand.
"romhacking" generally refers to editing a game to add or change content. Think of it like mods on PC games. For example, there's Pokemon romhacks that change what Pokemon you can encounter everywhere and make the trainers stronger. For New Super Mario Bros DS, there's romhacks that replace all the levels with custom made ones. Romhacks can also be used either with the real cartridge, or can be applied to downloaded game roms. This method will allow only the former - (non-permanent) editing the game files on a real cartridge.

Maybe Smea will come up with a way to install .CIA, but only for homebrew. Like, the file gets rejected if it's a pirated game, but installs normally if it's a homebrew. I have no knowledge on this field, so count this post as a crazy man's talk [emoji14]

I thought you didn't like pirates? Because that's what CFW usually comes with
Unfortunately, CFW is also the only way to get access to a lot of other cool features like eShop spoofing. There are games on the eShop I want to buy but that I can't because of updates.

I personally really want to see where that Linux port goes, and there's no way that can happen without kernel.

hmm correct linux cant run without kernel not enough permissions
They possibly have discovered how to get kernel above 9.3 (or else the project wouldnt continue)

I thought you guys weren't interested in spoofing because why not update? The homebrews that are morally ok run in the newest fws amirite? oh.. right.

why does this thread seem to not be getting what smealum meant with "Everything 9.2 users claim to want"....i think its kinda obvious he means the people who say "i want cfw to play rom hacks and homebrew.....i have no interest in piracy"......so for those people who claim that ninjhax 2.5 would do everything they want......unless they want they want piracy too,

people seem to have read it as "this will do everything 9.2 users can do"

It's vaguely worded.
9.2 users already have access to CFW, so perhaps he meant those above 9.2 or 9.3+.
He could have also meant what those at 9.2 claim they use their CFW for legitimate means only, and hax 2.5 will have the same access.

The other problem comes from him using the word "claim", as it can lead to the assumption that his update won't include the possibility of piracy, but if it's everything those at 9.2 or 9.3+ want then that includes kernel access, which inevitably leads to piracy.

anything is "vaguely worded" to gbatemp, even when he posted "ninjhax 2.0 doesn't have kernel access" there was a full blown speculation thread on it and trying to twist his words to mean something else

That has nothing to do with my argument, I do believe this instance in question is indeed vaguely worded.
It would help if someone with twitter just point blank asked him if 2.5 included kernel access, that would clear up any confusion in his wording.

Im sure it wouldn't help in the slightest :P, smea is very anti piracy, i doubt he would even release it if he thought it would end up being a quick piracy fix
