No... "The point" is that for more advanced systems like PSX, N64 and DS the Wii emulation capability sucks balls. In Wii U mode we have access to higher clock speeds and all 3 cores on the CPU, unrestricted access to the GX2 graphics processor, and (double, I believe?) the amount of RAM as the Wii had access to, making these emulators playable and even capable with more than just a handful of games
The Wii had 64MB of memory, the WiiU has 2048MB of memory...

So, 32 times the memory the Wii U has

Oh wow I thought the Wii had more holy crap

Who's saying that people can't split off and get both accomplished?... I don't understand why you're so POed

Edit: And besides, what do you consider "important"? Different people want different things out of the scene

because as I've said, emulation has been done on too many devices already. Not every console needs a gd emulator.

Implying everyone has a portable device, some people only have consoles, so....who are you to deter them? Let them do whatever the hell they want, it's not your place to tell them otherwise.

But here is the thing: n64 emulation - for exemple - has been terrible for years. Even on a powerful pc it isnt perfect - hence people starting a kickstarter some months ago so they could develop better plugins to finally fix it ate least on PC

Then NOT64 was released for the Wii and even if far from perfect, ate least is reunning several games in playable state, even fixing the frame rate on a few of them. On the original Wii

Seeying this... its obvious that i want a N64 emulator on wiiU to blow everything out of the water.

Have you triex playing a real n64 in modern tvs? Ive tried. I own one and several games. It looks like trash. Its so dark its hard to see stuff. It seems the only way to get good picture quality out of an n64 nowdays is getting a big old CRT tv in your house and also modding the n64 (only a few models are possible to be modded). I rather wait for the perfect emulator

pretty rich coming from you with regards the k exploit being private in the other topic.

I have a 64 with many games. They look fine, why would I complain about a 15+ year old system not looking great on a modern system? You know they make new games for new systems these days right?

Not a portable device. An OG XBOX for example is the best full capacity emulator around. Or buy a $35 RPi. I mean it's just obsessive to try to get EVERY new system to emulate EVERY previous system. It's been done...

I mean, there are people who do it for the fun of it, and if they want to release it then the whole community benefits from it. And again it comes down to what people have. I happen to have a Wii U. I almost solely play on Nintendo consoles. I do have a gaming PC but n64 games do not offer much in terms of graphics optimization for PC. Nintendo, on the other hand, has made a nearly cycle-perfect emulator on the Wii U that we now have quite literally almost full access to. If someone wants to reverse that and make it better with more customization options, why try to stop them? Again, I fail to see where this butthurt is coming from

Yes they do, you can use HD texture packs and upslcaing, or AA. Theres heaps of option, and none on wii u
Texture packs are cool, but usually not true to the original and usually make some unwanted change other than just better quality textures (i.e. some difference somewhere even if it's as simple as the HUD looking different), upscaling is a viable option but it REALLY drags on your CPU and/or GPU; I have an i5 and it can barely handle upscaling DS games to 2x, and doesn't fare much better with N64 games, and I guess I don't know what AA is? My point is that none of the PC emulators are anywhere near cycle-perfect. For instance, look at something as simple as the transparency effect in SM64, PC emulators struggled to do that until VERY recently (some may still haven't have corrected it, even), but Nintendo's manages to do it with ease despite being on far inferior hardware. This makes sense, as Nintendo has full access to their own documentation and are building an emulator for their own hardware, and have now literally GIVEN us a fully functioning emulator. As this is the case, why SHOULDN'T someone want to mess around with the code and make it more configurable?

Well no. Texture packs can be good Nd bad. A great example of good texture packs are the ttyd packs for paper mario 64

I have an i5 and I can upscale 4x for gc and upscale whatever the max is for n64, not sure what your problem is

AA is antialiasing

No I agree. Pc emulators aren't perfect, but really we don't need more emulators on the wii u. If they happen, then awesome, but if they don't then who cares, plenty of other consoles emulate already.

Plus emulators like dolphin are near perfect anyway

"to the average user that doesn't want to spend more money or buy a whole new rig"
Texture packs dont require a new rig, or upgrades, and they provide a huge variety in terms of customisation

And really most mid level rigs will emulate fairly well, Dolphin is insanely well optimised, and project64 is a fairly stable emulator despite its age. Cant remember the name fo the other n64 emulator though.

I get your point, but emulation is easier than ever now, and less intensive

I don't know if I'd call their in-house N64 emulator, or any of their in-house emulators cycle-accurate per se (barring M2's own GBA and DS emulators, now those are very accurate). The reason I say this is the results of ROM injection tests, Snes for example, some games have graphical glitches, others have completely missing sound (Earthworm Jim 2 comes to mind, the game does something with the S-SMP where it streams audio in a way, but injected, no sound effects are emulated). The leads me to further believe whatever audio core they use in the Snes is not Blargg's S-SMP, which has been tested to be 100% completely cycle-accurate, the Wii U VC doesn't have this, the Lavos Scream in Chrono Trigger is incorrectly emulated. Just pointing out a few things is all :P With the advent of CEN64, GlideN64 and so on, N64 emulation is actually more accurate in that regard, at least from my observations and testing ^_^ You are right though, we need better emulators for the Wii U.

Mupen64 and/or 1964. I've only ever used Project64. If it helps explain why I can't upscale easily I'm still using integrated graphics because I'm a cheapskate :P
