The name is not decided yet. The titlebar literally says "Cafe". I can post another screenshot with titlebar + FPS counter if you want. To answer your second question, it will most likely be released here on gbatemp first. It's developed by a closed team (of which I am a part), therefore there isn't any other source than my posts atm.

Yes, it's coming out of nowhere. Yes, it seems somewhat too early for an emulator. Yes, screenshots don't prove anything. If you don't believe, just wait some time and we'll see.

Thats not how it works. There are SNES emulators which require at least 3GHz to run smoothly. If I went by your logic, that would mean N64 and anything above can not be emulated currently. Wii U works differently enough that a lot of the slow stuff can be optimized away (at cost of accuracy, of course). Also, who says we will see playable speeds? 5 FPS emulation is still emulation.
Nah, I definitely believe you, I'm just amused you dived headfirst into graphics and such. How long's it been worked on/how many people are working on it? Exjam and co have been working on their repo for a while, but it's mainly been just two people working on it in their free time.

Dolphin Team said something about adding Wii U support I think. But not for a long time.

Yeah, we said it won't happen, ever.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

It seems that Dolphin team decided to instead of searching on wii u emulation, they just focus on their current emulator to be one of the best emulators that can also be ported to different platforms easily in the future ^^.

It's not about focus, it's because adding Wii U emulation to Dolphin is (for various reasons) about as sensible as adding Wii U emulation to LibreOffice.

Very cool. Are you going with HLE or LLE? Did you need to implement IOSU? Why keep the development closed? Wouldn't it make more sense to put it up on github so other devs can learn from it and contribute? Did you base it off Dolphin or start from scratch? Was implementing SMP difficult?

still have cpu differences to work out.....if your computer happened to be running basically identical wii u hardware maybe
So basically in order to emulate a Wii U perfectly using today's technology you'd need to build... A Wii U.

That's totally doable. In fact I heard that Nintendo is selling computers with specs that are the exact same as Wii Us. It's called the Wii U!

You heard it here folks. It's unreasonable to assume that you'll be able to play a Wii U emulator any time soon. (For those who don't know, neobrain is a contributor to dolphin)

yeah thats the point i was trying to make, that to emulate the wiiu on a system with the same base specs as the wiiu....it would basically have to be a wiiu

I hope my comment didn't come across as me being snarky to you. I was just clarifying what you meant that it'd be silly to assume this will just work on any random computer that "rivals" the Wii U's hardware.

Does everyone still ignore my question?

Has anyone compiled the research-in-progress Wii U emulator from exjam?
It's command line based, and I dunno what to type into it to get it working.
I looked at the source code and it seems you have to type:

Wiiu.exe play <path to game>

I tried it, but it doesn't work. Apparently, it can't open vol/code/cos.xml.
Does anyone know how to work this?

Yes some more details please... I'd like to know if this is actually legitimate or not, as it seems a bit silly for me to duplicate all the effort if your emulator is as far as the screenshots suggest, I've been working on mine since May... Any good reasons why its not open source?

It should be wiiu.exe play "path to game" where the path is the root of extracted WUD, where you have the folders data and system. cos.xml should exist at: <path to game>/data/code/cos.xml

I actually got it working now. Thanks! ;)

btw, I didn't know you were on gbatemp!

@ExJam What games are currently compatible? I'm currently downloading Super Mario 3D World, will that work on it?

No games are compatible, some run a bunch of functions but nothing renders yet - still working on the gx2 stuff.

Oh. Time to stop the download, then!

Will it run some of the SDK's rpx's, then? They're just text-based and have no graphics as such. Should be simple to emulate.

Probably, but the loader isn't designed to load just an .rpx right now as it looks for the cos.xml file like a game would have.

I did happen to edit the cos.xml, but it was no use... It probably wasn't tweaked enough.
Plus it'd need a lot more permissions, perhaps.

Someone said it requires 3.0GHz to perfectly emulate snes?
I'm sorry to say WRONG! I perfectly emulate snes on my DSTWO
And even with the internal CPU inside the DSTWO conbined with the DSI CPU, I really doubt it gives 3.0GHz, I even doubt it gives 1.0GHz
