I'm amazed to see that web development is so underrated even nowadays. You can do very cool things. Heck, I even built a complete AC:NL savegame editor.
I think part of the problem is that web-based software won't behave the same as a desktop version; it won't integrate fully into the filesystem, it won't necessarily visually resemble the host OS's GUI or conform to its interface guidelines, and it won't have access to the OS's APIs (except the ones which are exposed through the browser or its plugins).

For these reasons I think desktop apps are preferred by many people. For small tools like this though, a web-based app is ideal as it's cross-platform and updates will be visible every time you open it :)

Web development also moves on much faster - probably by necessity. Desktop APIs, languages and IDEs are so feature rich that there isn't as much need for progress (in terms of the fundamentals of how the software is built, not what it can actually do). Web development, however, needs to move faster as more and more is expected of it.

It's also worth mentioning that when building applications for the browser, it requires virtually no effort to make it work as a web app for a smartphone, aside from a few CSS rules.

Well, there are already two SMDH offline creators, but yeah, I can make a standalone version of mine too (you will still need a web browser though).

They are not saved on cloud, sorry.
When you select save you don't have to change any extension since you are creating a real .smdh after all.
But is doesn't save as a smdh. It saves as a jpeg. So should I change the .jpg to a smdh and it will still work, right?

I've uploaded 1.2, which includes option to specific language edition. And also you can install it as a webapp too (through Chrome).

My english is a tad limited so I didn't know how to explain how the custom language option works. Any better suggestion?

So I found a guy trying to take credit for this on reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/3dshacks/comments/3re6wh/smdh_creator_allows_you_to_create_your_own/cwnagjq

From /u/100pcrack's comment (since he will very likely delete it): Just created an online version. Acess it here: http://100pcrack.github.io/smdh

Just copied the page directly, and changed the name. No mention of credit beyond the program from Gemisis.

Screenshot of the site: https://puu.sh/l8ix8/163dbad9ca.png
The donation button also leads to his own paypal account.

Edit: Oh hey, same guy has a history of doing similar things in this forum too.

You could just use html5's appcache :)

This is awesome!

Could you add support for pasting URLs to .SMDH files? Granted, this is a pretty weird use case, but if someone has a .SMDH on GitHub or something it would be nice to just be able to grab it from there without needing to download it locally first.
