Hi I have some questions before I purchase Save Dongle for the 3DS (this is my first post btw so please be generous :c)

I have been wanting one for a while now and I'm finally about to get one..

So I hear that transferring and Backing up saves still works..
However my main use for this will be with Gamefly as their games only save on the cartridge..
If I decide to take a game back and then get it later can I transfer my save from one cartridge to the other?

And does it work with all games? Cause I hear the new mystery dungeon is about to come out and I really want to play it, but I know how long those games are.. and I would really like to backup my saves for future use..

Now onto my last question, Does this work with all 3DS versions? (I think I currently have the latest(I haven't played mine in a while due to lack of games)) I know that the r4i gold deluxe cards don't work but I can see how that would be completely different..

I'm gonna purchase it in about a week so I hope to hear replies soon.. and thanks..

P.S. If anybody has or knows where to find a list of supported games if my second question doesn't work can you link me to it please? :)

EDIT: I just found out about Action Replay Powersaves which is a lot newer... should I use that instead?

I don't know about save dongles since I don't really own any, but I can give you a little information on the Powersaves device. Essentially, it has two functions - save management, and save editing. The save editing is done using codes fetched from Datel's servers - note this isn't the same as the old Action Replays where you could add your own codes, you're limited to what they have. On top of that, the save backup, although pretty good, probably isn't for you. Powersaves backs up the save in a way that makes it only compatible with the cartridge it came from. Think of it as every cartridge having a unique ID, and saves made via the device are compatible only with the ID they were made from. It's fine if you're saving and restoring from the same cart, but if you tried to restore a save from one cart onto another, it wouldn't work.

Hope that helps you some, if you have any questions about Powersaves, I can try to help ^^

Yeah, the R4i Savedongle isn't the best anymore... I have one from their review giveaway, which I did review but was removed from here, but when it came out it was the best at the time. It was able to decrypt saves, and it was able to read most save data types that didn't use NAND-based chips (Such as Pokemon, ACNL, SSB4).

Now, though, you're probably better off with a powersaves or a hacked system or something to manage your save data.

Depending on what system firmware you have, I would recommend dumping the saves and storing them on your PC manually. It will be easier(and cheaper!) in the long run!

Is there any requirements for this method? It seems too good to be true cx
Just a way to run homebrew. Tubehax is a great method for you to look into if you're interested! However you need to have your system connected to Wifi

I tried it with my Pokemon Y and it worked!
Sadly, it was the same cartridge that I duped.. So I don't know for sure if it works on different cartridges of the same game..
I also seen a list of games that don't work with this..
There's not many but most of them were the ones I was dying to play XD
Hopefully they'll fix it..
If not I may just take my chances with a SKY3DS..
It makes me question why Gamefly even let's you rent 3DS games..

Anyways thank you very much!
and thanks to all that helped~ ^^
